Two children stood outside a home within the crime scene where four people were shot in the Little Village neighborhood on the West Side Sunday night.
They watched police shine flashlights across the sidewalk, and place evidence markers near shell casings. The children caught Annette Hernandez’s eye as she walked by the scene in the 2200 block of South Sacramento Avenue.
“You see, there are kids running around,” Hernandez said. “Every night, it’s the same stuff.”
The four were standing on the street around 9:30 p.m. when a male shooter approached on foot and began firing, critically injuring a 21-year-old man who was hit in the chest and rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital, police said.
Two other people were treated at Mount Sinai. A 34-year-old woman was shot in the leg and was stabilized, and a 30-year-old man was in serious condition with wounds to the left arm and hip.
A 20-year-old man was shot in the leg and taken to St. Anthony Hospital with a gunshot wound to the leg.
The night remained hot, still reaching temperatures in the 90s after the sun went down. The scene, just south of Cermak Road, was busy with passing pedestrians.
A woman with two kids grabbed their hands as they hurried past the scene and got into a car.
The four people wounded were among 20 people shot in Chicago between Sunday and Monday mornings, at least three of them fatally.

Press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders: “I think if you look to Chicago where you had over 4,000 victims of gun-related crimes last year they have the strictest gun laws in the country. That certainly hasn’t helped there.” . . . But while gun violence in Chicago is high, the rest of this common talking point doesn’t really hold water.
“No one’s in a position to say that Chicago’s various special regulations and Illinois’s regulations are doing no good,” he said, “because we don’t know what the homicide rate would be in the absence of those.
Leftist gun grabbers are either morons or evil, in most cases I’d guess both.
Deaths in Detroit and Chicago aren’t important and certainly not a RAT priority. Liberals care more about illegals they can use for votes via voter fraud. That’s their priority!!

There is perhaps no place in the United States that is more separated by race and income than the North Side and South Side of Chicago. Apartheid, American style, is the consequence of liberal rule.
And the Dem politicians in Chicago don’t care about these, mainly, Black on Black crimes.

It's ludicrously transparent, so I assume it's really a way to tell the proles who is controlling the narrative and who can silence them with charges of "racism."
And the states attorneys there throw out the gun charges since it would be sending a criminal suspect from a Democratic voting demographic to jail a lot longer than the other charges therefore upsetting those in the precincts who actually vote for wonderful Democratic politicians.
