He seems to be saying that the German people’s rejection of open borders may well cause Mutti Merkel to be strapped into her rocking chair for a well-deserved rest. Further, if her coalition fails, then ultimately so does the globalist, multi-cultural project known as the Europe Union.
Perhaps it’s too early to break out the champagne, but certainly, it’s time to order a bottle before supplies run out. Or maybe some Rhine wine would be more appropriate? Or, if you don’t imbibe, at least have some sauerkraut; it’s also fermented.

If my understanding of the end of WW2 is correct, the VERY great bulk of those resulting pregnancies were aborted.
If you go back to the 1970s (I was stationed there at the time), even visitors could note various problems. The various currencies created problems if you decided on a Thursday night, that you were going for a weekend trip from Germany to the Netherlands. Traveling meant that you had to mess around with passport control at every border (consuming hours and hours). There was a list of twenty-odd things that needed to be fixed.
So by 2001...this list of twenty-odd problems had been resolved. Whether the Euro is a positive or not....is still debated. But the EU could not resist going on and fixing things which weren’t really a problem. So today, we have a regulation over vacuum cleaners and the max power they can be. There are literally hundreds of regulations which are unnecessary.
The German manipulation over the EU is apparent. The revenge manipulation of the EU over Germany is apparent (go look at the diesel particle crisis).
The EU election in Jun 2019 promises to be a wild adventure with 20-percent of the representation being anti-migrant and likely far-right wing.
The problem with the EU model is they don't share a common language or culture like the states does or fly the same flag but do have to live under the rule of Brussels and Merkel as opposed to us living under federal laws and DC.
Diluting the EU with Muslims and the USA with Hispanics is causing all kinds of problems and resentment among the (now) indigenous peoples. From my point of view both the Muslim refugees (rapefugees) and the Hispanic illegals (gang bangers) need to go home or just leave the EU and the USA and go to either a Muslim nation or a Hispanic one. The USA must also learn from the EU debacle and prevent refugees from entering. Help them set up camps in their homeland so they can help to rebuild their homes and cities. It's where they belong anyway.
Just a rough sketch of what I see as the key problems with mass migration and the problem with the EU model.
Want proof? Ask the indigenous people of America in the 1600's - 2000's how that mass migration worked out for them and their land.

The E.U. (or E.C. or Common Market or European Coal and Steel Community) predates the '80s.
Also, it had nothing to do with the relative strengths of currencies - which are, after all, merely units of account. (And besides, the behind-the-scenes "Powers That Be" all have their dough - in the form of currency baskets - stored away in Switzerland).
