Interesting. I (robroy) became a member in 11/98 and was banned in August of 2011 (without warning, I might add) for being rude to JeanS (since deceased). I think she was a close friend of Jims.
I set up another account years later (Mr. Douglas) and was doing fine for many months and then, completely out of the blue, BAM, I was re-banned for being a “retread”. I just use my wife’s account now and if that gets banned, I’ll just set up another one, assuming I feel the need to post.

Why play games? If someone gets zotted, they should stay away for a little bit, contact Mr. Robinson, apologize, and promise to be a good Freeper. Then ask to be let back into the fold.

I think I’ve had four over 20 years. This one has been banned a number of times only to be unbanned without notice when they finally realized years later that I was right about the thing I was banned over.
First ban was about me objecting to the abuse of US military forces for GWB’s insane third-world nation-building projects. Between the war and the soldiers who were tasked to fight it, I picked the side of the latter, which was not within the acceptable range of opinions at the time.
Now of course it’s obvious to almost all that people should have been objecting to GWB’s insane foreign policy even earlier than I had done.
I was once Zoted for over a year during the romney affair. Moral of the story, never directly insult the owner/operator.
