Reagan’s daughter: My dad would be ‘appalled’ by Trump presidency
Ronald Reagan would be “appalled” by the Trump presidency, daughter Patty Davis tells the Washington Post.
In a letter written on the occasion of the anniversary her father’s June 5, 2004 death, Davis said Reagan would be “pretty horrified at where we’ve come to.”
“He would be appalled and heartbroken,” she wrote, “at a Congress that refuses to stand up to a president who not only seems ignorant of the Constitution but who also attempts at every turn to dismantle and mock our system of checks and balances.”
Davis, 65, doesn’t mention Trump by name; she does make mention of how she’d once publicly criticized another president — her father.

I disagree but even if it were true, it would not change my opinion of Trump.
Save for an assassination attempt (may God forbid!) Trump has had to put up with WAY more crap than Reagan did. For starters: Reagan had actual allies in Europe for the most part and the GOP wasn’t set on destroying him...not so with Trump.
They’re both great leaders, both very underestimated by the establishment..Trump is a bit more shoot from the hip and more blunt but it’s the kind of personality the times we are living in call for. The climate of political correctness is way worse now than Reagan’s time.
Reagan - as an actor - mastered the TV age.
Trump has mastered the social media/digital age.

What's with presidential kids? We never elected Patty Davis to any position of authority or to mouth off about anything of substance; same goes for Ivanka.
Speaking for myself I couldn't care less what they think or what they say. About anything.
They can use the White House as a playground, (we can't separate families, right?) but just STFU!

So true. Though not a polished actor in the way Reagan was, Trump does well with television. With the Apprentice -- 15 top-rated seasons -- and also the 2016 campaign where he dominated TV coverage.
Until President Trump, Reagan was the only decent President in my lifetime,and I was born in 1958.
President Trump has a much tougher row to hoe because even with Reagan in office the ComDems were able to insert way too many poison pills in legislation that was passed. While Reagan did try to stop our decline he didn't do the smash-mouth brawling that President Trump is now performing. The population was not as Balkanized and was not yet at the edge of the cliff.
Our fight now is going to be down and dirty if we are to step away from the brink of Communism and return our Nation to a true constitutional republic with individual freedom and liberty. We have a long, hard, way to go.
Reagan ,altered politics as governor of the largest state. Trump didn’t have that experience.
Isn’t she a bit old to still be rebelling against her father?
The Reagan common sense gene perhaps skipped a generation.
