Victors write history. If Israel is destroyed and/or Iran takes over the mideast, and Islaam grows globally in the next few decades, there’s a chance these players (Rhodes, Jarret, Hillary, Obama) are major characters in history textbooks 100 years from now. They are heros in those textbooks, even bigger than Washington, Madison, Hamilton, Jefferson, Franklin, etc.
Colonial rebels in the 1770s-1790, and Jews in the mandate government in 1930s-1948s, and many other small groups who we consider heroes of history would be “terrorists” in today’s history books if they didn’t “win”. So many other resistance groups are forgotten because they lost.
Rhodes, Jarrett, Kerry, and so many others under Obama thought they would be the “Washington, Revere, Ben-Gurion, Meir”s of our future. If ISIS had succeeded and taken over Europe, the US, and then the world, then Obama’s administration would have been the “founding fathers” of the global Islamist world for hundreds if not thousands of years - and that was their goal (”founding fathers/mothers” if Islaam advanced enough to recognize Hillary’s contributions, but that’s unlikely).
It would be most satisfying to see them go down in history as villians. But our best hope is that they are forgotten like so many other failed revolutionaries/terrorists. The line between revolutionary and terrority is very faint - without help from the French navy, our “founding fathers” would be a minor terrorist group in UK history books rather than “founding fathers” in US history. I make fun of the French as much as anyone (which annoys my French wife), but I acknowledge that a minor action can flip the history books for decades/centuries. And, if Hillary had won, the minor action of supporting Obama’s agreement with Iran could have set the world on a different course for centuries.
I’d love to see Rhodes, Jarrett, and others in prison. But I’ll be happy that we avoided the path they were trying to put us on where they would be the “founding fathers/mothers” of the new world. Demonizing them or putting them in prison can energize their followers and boost their ego. “Forgetting them” takes away their pulpit and hopefully makes them sadder that their cause is done than they would be if they were in prison but their cause was still in good position to advance.
