Looking for suggestions/recommendations on a charcoal grill. Looking for a 22 inch or greater. Was hoping to purchase the green egg but first quarter business did not go as planned and i need to scale back on my purchase. Looking in the $300 to $400 range. Any ideas?? Thanks

Oklahoma joe smoker. Can’t tell you life span but it is a good smoker.

I have always eyeballed weber but thought they are over priced.

I have the big one, the small one just for a couple of steaks...and the gas grill for when I’m being lazy.

That’s right, I have 3.

And all first rate. By design. And quality of manufacture.

If you can’t get an egg go for a good Weber

The carts wear out before the grills. The grill's parts are often easy to replace but the cheap a$$ carts are made of flimsy painted pot metal. You can build an amazing BBQ pit with bricks and throw a grate over it for the price of a Webber. You did say charcoal? Just depends on your property and how much space you can devote to it. Recycled bricks are free! If you know where to look...

Hands down. That is for BBQ. 20 hr Brisket, not a problem.

Add this if you don’t enjoy tending it.

Set it to 3 for cfm’s.

Ask your wife which pot she hates. Break the handle off. 4 to 5 Qt is perfect. Fill it with sand or gravel or heck mine is filled with rock salt. Split a brick. Place the pot at the center of the coal grate and use the brick to provide a fire break. Sprinkle your hardwood lump all around the perimeter. Sprinkle your fruit or nut wood of choice around the 1st 1/3 of the charcoal. Light with Webber grill lighting pellet right by the brick. The fire will slowly snake all the way around your pot for hrs and hrs and hrs.

For grilling, an Aussie Grill. If you don’t know how to grill turn in your man card. ;-)

Seems to work great!

Just clean the grille after each use to keep the holes open.

A stainless box for smoke wood chips helps with the flavor if you have the time.

Weber spirit gas grill

Best grill I ever owned. I’m too lazy to cover it and it won’t rust no matter how hard I try

You can buy green egg grills from independent sellers, new, for under what you say your price range is, on ebay.

For that much, you may want to consider a wood pellet grill, like a Traeger.

There was a news of interest on local TV just about this subject. I forgot the name of the top one, sorry, at the time I didn’t know you were going to ask. It was about $300. The two features that made it worthy of first place were 1, a loading chute to add charcoal while cooking, no need to move food to lift grill. 2, the charcoal could be wound up or down to control coal to food distance.

Another vote for Weber. I have a big Weber Summit for grilling and a 22” Weber Smokey Mountain for BBQ. Have had both for over 15 years. They are worth the extra coin, IMHO.

100 dollar Webber and paint it green so you can keep up with the green egg idiots.

Will a $1000 pan make your wife cook like Julia Child? Don’t get m wrong good equipment helps but the green eggs are BS IMHO.

Wait for someone to throw a gas grill away.

Then buy new parts for much cheaper online.
