Why would the Brits buy and sell land by the acre when the hectare is more appropriate when upscaling from square meters?

Because the UK is totally messed up when it comes to all things measurement.

British highways have speed limits listed in both MPH and KPH

Not really. The basic speed limits, and the main markings on car speedometers is in MPH, just like the US.

Typical sign - https://goo.gl/maps/pwSmyv4H9GA2

The funny bit is that they buy petrol in liters but still often refer to MPG for fuel efficiency.

(1) He wasn’t driving at the time so how can he be banned from driving?

(2) The stated end design of these cars has no user operated brake or wheel.

Incrementalism will take us there.

Snopes cribbed/stole the bulk of the apolitical stories from Jan Brunvand’s collected books on urban legends.

Yea, lucky he didn’t wind up like the other fool who was decapitated in his Tesla on Autopilot when it decided it could drive under a semi crossing his path.
