Tonya Harding is trading ice skates for dancing shoes — and many Dancing with the Stars fans aren’t too happy about it.
On Friday morning, ABC revealed the 10 former athletes who will compete on the Athletes edition of the reality dance competition series, premiering April 30.
After audiences learned that 47-year-old Harding, a former professional ice skater, was signed on to compete with pro dancer Sasha Farber on season 26, they took to Twitter to express their thoughts — many of which were not in favor of the controversial Olympian.

“This might be the fist time since DWTS has been on that i refuse to watch. I will never watch anything that promotes Tonya Harding…and I’m really bummed because i like so many of the other athletes that will be in this season,” tweeted another.
“Instead of the show being called called #DWTS, it should be called ‘Dancing with the criminals.’ They choose Tonya Harding for the lineup,” tweeted another. “Who’s next? O.J? Lol.”

I wouldn’t go so far as calling her a “victim” in the modern, liberal sense. She eventually did herself in by not stating all of the facts surrounding the clubbing. However, she was clearly disliked by the Olympic Committee ... they *hated* Tonya Harding before she did anything wrong.
Tonya was the rough around the edges, “slutty looking” redneck that shouldn’t have dared set foot on the ice. It wasn’t a sport for a girl like her as far as the ivory tower loiterers on the olympic committee were concerned. They couldn’t market her. They knew they could market the self absorbed, horsefaced, fraud Kerrigan, but Harding was too much of a wild card for the snobs on that committee. They were terrified that she could win. Harding was *very* talented, but the committee couldn’t care less about talent.
Discrimination like that makes me angry ... its no different than bigotry of low expectations based on skin color that liberals love to exploit. These people shouldn’t care about anything outside of talent and rules. Prior to the attack, Harding followed the rules, had the talent, but didn’t fit an image. That disgusts me. However, Harding certainly did herself in not being honest about what she knew surrounding the attack.
Haven’t a couple of NFL guys won too? I know one has (I can’t remember who it was) and I think maybe there were 2. Of course they are strong and also used to being coached.
As for Donny Osmond or Nicole Scherziner, they must have had SOME dance training in their careers.
I don’t watch this show, but I have watched “So you think you can dance” and I really have gotten an appreciation of dance out of it, and that says a lot good about the show I’d say.
Let’s just say she has a career-killing character flaw I refuse to get past. Dishonorable, disgusting and in the end, disposable.
I can’t stand her for the dishonorable attack on Kerrigan. Yes, competition is cruel, but man, that was so low...Shaking my head decades later.

She's just trash who clawed her way near the top, only to throw it away because she couldn't win fairly. I don't know what respect that deserves, but it ain't much, in my book.
Whatever. Walk a mile in her shoes. Remind yourself that she was young and surrounded by sketchy people who were more likely than not responsible for the attack on Kerrigan. I firmly believe also that she found out about it and hid that knowledge from the authorities... Just like the vast majority of people in similar straights would have done if their spouse had committed a crime.
Actually Harding was a national champion, with probably the single greatest skating performance in history.

It has been proven that Tanya had no part in the leg smashing incident. Her white trash boyfriend was totally to blame. I kind of feel sorry for her.
