Tonya Harding is trading ice skates for dancing shoes — and many Dancing with the Stars fans aren’t too happy about it.
On Friday morning, ABC revealed the 10 former athletes who will compete on the Athletes edition of the reality dance competition series, premiering April 30.
After audiences learned that 47-year-old Harding, a former professional ice skater, was signed on to compete with pro dancer Sasha Farber on season 26, they took to Twitter to express their thoughts — many of which were not in favor of the controversial Olympian.

“This might be the fist time since DWTS has been on that i refuse to watch. I will never watch anything that promotes Tonya Harding…and I’m really bummed because i like so many of the other athletes that will be in this season,” tweeted another.
“Instead of the show being called called #DWTS, it should be called ‘Dancing with the criminals.’ They choose Tonya Harding for the lineup,” tweeted another. “Who’s next? O.J? Lol.”

As a fan of Dancing with the Stars and ice-skating, I have to say that I don’t understand the hate for Nancy Kerrigan or Tonya Harding.
I remember when the Kerrigan/Harding scandal was happening, I couldn’t stand Tonya Harding.
She acted like the world owed her something.
On more than one occasion, she would show up late to international competitions, not having time to lace up her boots properly, and then stop and go crying to the judges when she couldn’t finish a routine.
I’m not sure what some mean when they say that Nancy Kerrigan was “fake,” but she’s was definitely overrated as a skater.
I believe Tonya Harding has tried to improve her life over the years, and I’m a big believer in redemption, so I wish her well on the show.
By the way, it’s not just liberals who can’t stand her, there’s some in my conservative family who can’t stand her either.
Sasha will have his work cut out for him on getting the votes for her, but the producers will probably keep her anyway.
She is trash.
But the reason liberals don’t like her is she is white trash.
They are fine with black trash or whatever trash. Just not white trash.

Tonya Harding is a badasses badass.

Actually she rose from poverty to be a world class skater. In the beginning the skating establishment lowballed her scores because she didn’t fit the “princess” profile. I have nothing but admiration for Tonya Harding.
Until the female skaters start wearing g-strings and pasties, I won't watch. They're getting close tho..........

Actually she’s very smart. Watch some her interviews at 15, 16 years of age. She knew the score, and never bitched.
I, Tonya was the best movie of the year... Period.
