I heard her character’s elementary school age grandson dresses as a girl on the show. And that the lesbian producer is claiming it’s not meant as any kind of a statement about homosexuality.

The real problem is that voters are evidently not being taught the following about the fed's constitutionally limited powers.
More specifically, and the US Mail Service (1.8.7) aside, the Founding States had intended for citizens to rely on their state governments, not the feds, for all social spending services, services like healthcare and retirement, ultimately depending on what a given state's legal majority voters want.
Consider the following clarifications of the fed's limited powers by President Thomas Jefferson and constitutional lawmaker Rep. John Bingham.
"Our citizens have wisely formed themselves into one nation as to others and several States as among themselves. To the united nation belong our external and mutual relations; to each State, severally, the care of our persons [emphasis added], our property, our reputation and religious freedom.” —Thomas Jefferson: To Rhode Island Assembly, 1801.
”... the care of the property, the liberty, and the life of the citizen, under the solemn sanction of an oath imposed by your Federal Constitution, is in the States, and not in the Federal Government [emphases added].” —Rep. John Bingham, Congressional Globe, 1866. (See about middle of 3rd column.)
In fact, citizens can bet that if a given federal domestic spending program is not reasonably related to the US Mail Service (1.8.7) then it is unconstitutional and probably be right most of the time.
In other words, most federal domestic spending programs are based on stolen state powers and uniquely associated state revenues, revenues that the feds have stolen from the states in the form of unconstitutional federal taxes, taxes that the corrupt, post-17th Amendment ratification Congress cannot justify under its constitutional Article I, Section 8-limited powers.
Patriots need to support Pres. Trump with a Trump-supporting, state sovereignty-respecting Congress that will commit to surrendering state powers that it has stolen from the states back to the states.
And in order to make Trump's vision for MAGA last as long as possible, the states need to repeal the ill-conceived 17th Amendment.
The 16th Amendment can disappear too.
And until the states wake up and repeal the ill-conceived 17A, as evidenced by concerns about the integrity of the outcome of Alabama's and Pennsylvania's special elections, patriot candidates need to win elections by a large enough margin to compensate for possible deep state ballot box fraud and associated MSM scare tactics.

I missed it, but I agree - Left turn ahead - that has been true of many shows with original right wing hooks - Designated Survivor, Homeland, many others - some go a few seasons, others only a few episodes...
