After a few committed months of hot yoga at a studio in New York, Christina Rice had found her niche. So when the studio announced that it was offering teacher training, she signed right up. It was only when she arrived with her mat that she noticed something striking. There were 54 other women and men in the 10-week course, and not one of them looked like her. She was the lone African American in the class.

Sounds like it’s more of a class thing. These are specialized programs that are designed for people who have money, that is for people who don’t want to exercise around the old, the fat, and the poor. Not really a skin color issue.

If a black person thinks spinning and yoga are too white, either don’t go or recruit some friends (who all have to LOOK LIKE YOU, of course) to take up the hobby. So tired of this crap.
I am so sick of the African-American moniker. It seems to me that some Americans will NEVER feel American until it becomes Africa and America will cease to exist. Some other ethnic groups hyphenate but the liberal American brown and black are the most insecure demographic in our nation. Obama really ratcheted it up.

If the clips of yoga I see on prescription drug commericals are legitimate, your "struggles" there are to try to touch the back of your head to your toes, to stand on one leg while you extend the other above your shoulder, etc. Shaddap.
I was raised to see people, not skin color. I have never hated anyone because of the color of their skin, because it’s one of the least important things about them.
I am rapidly learning different, though. If people want to be their skin color instead of themselves, I think they are fools and/or knaves and want nothing to do with them.
Sort of like swimming in the ocean. A certain demographic avoids that almost absolutely.Only black scuba divers I ever met were both from the Caribbean.
No kidding. It never ends. I’m convinced that there are people in this world who live to be perpetually offended malcontents. And expect praise and prizes for it, too.
And? Tell your black brothers and sisters to get their buttocks to the gym! Build a club of people who look like you if it bothers you so much! Until then, shut up and pedal, fool!
