Far-left late-night host Jimmy Kimmel, who is currently one of the most polarizing and divisive personalities in the country, admitted he has seen polls that show that his partisanship “has cost me commercially.”
“According to polls I’ve seen, it has cost me commercially,” he told Oprah Winfrey in an interview for her O Magazine. “That’s not ideal, but I wouldn’t change anything I said.”
“I know my job is, for the most part, to entertain people and make them laugh. That said, if I can be selfish every once in a while and talk about something serious that’s important to me, then I do want to take that opportunity,” Kimmel added. “But I don’t want to abuse my position. I pick my battles. Ninety percent of the time, I’ll joke around, but some of the jokes, I hope, make people think.”

That means it’s cost his bosses commercially, and they don’t seem to care.
We’re in a real dogfight here because it appears that the other side values political orthodoxy over going broke.

There are some things more important than money, like approval from you fellow travelers at cocktail parties.
Alternatively, better to lose a few dollars by alienating viewers that you hate anyway, than to upset the Hollywood elite and kill your career completely and irrevocably.
To make people think, one must first be able to think for himself.
Kimmel doesn't think. He parrots a line of party or ideology without bothering to understand what the hell he is saying. And he sincerely believes that because an audience of immature buffoons laughs at him, that this qualifies him as an intellectual.

I concur with your statement. His comment: “According to polls I’ve seen, it has cost me commercially, ...” sounds to me like it has not hit him very hard (if at all) financially.
These people are so arrogant and have so much money that the heights of their folly will not hit them until they have to ask for a job at Wal-mart.
