The ratings for Sunday nights telecast of the 90th annual Academy Awards collapsed by a whopping 16 percent, which would mean an all-time low, according to early estimates.
Variety reports that the 8 p.m.-11 p.m. portion of ABCs telecast averaged an 18.9 household rating and 32 share in Nielsens metered market overnight ratings Thats down about 16% from the 22.5/37 rating generated by the 2017 Oscars.
According to Deadline, the 18.9 appears to be an all-time low for the Oscars, below the previous low ratings point for the Oscars, logged with the 2008 telecast (21.9).
The ratings will be updated once all the numbers are in,But if past is prologue, those numbers will not change much either way.

It used to be ok to mock both sides of politics. Their ratings would go up if we didnt live behind the iron curtain. Jimmy Kimmel would rate commit seppuku than mock a leftist.
You missed the one and only laugh Kimmel got out of me. He cant even get a smile going. But someone wrote him this one to say before Sandra Bullock came out.
Speed, Gravity, and Crash are not just movies starring our next presenter; theyre also reasons not to fly in a plane with Harrison Ford.
Did Don Knotts have sex with a fish?
Where is the DUKE when we need him NOW.
That’s PC for ya-a love affair with a fish is ok, but dolphin in your tuna salad is baaaad. It’s an interspecies connection thing, the lead must have ‘identified’ as a dolphin.
I could understand the rest of the characters pretty well by Oldman was mostly garbled and I assume it was intentional since he was trying to mimic Churchill’s delivery in private settings. So Churchillian subtitles only would have made it better for me.
But Kimmel really sucked. IMO
May I compliment you on your excellent taste?
There was a good Rip Torn Columbo on MeTv too.
It’s like the newspaper. Every day there is a headline whether there was any vital news or not. The Oscars will be given to the best, in their opinion, of the bunch no matter how bad it is. I’d love to hear them say, “There’ll be no award for best picture this year, because there weren’t any good enough.”
That’s a pretty bad job of colorizing,
unless John Wayne wore red hats and purple shirts.
There is a lot of mumbling by actors today. I could not watch TV at all if not for captions. Background music of multiple speakers make it impossible to hear dialog. The Golden age dontcha know.
Yeah, that was pretty good. A lot of his jokes were met with dead silence. It was a tough crowd. LOL
Likely we will meet him soon enough at our age.
Heh. Thank you.
I even have to caption Game of Thrones to understand their English.
Don’t forget about background checks, mental evaluations, and waiting periods to buy a ticket.
And of course modern directors think it is uber cool to shoot dialog scenes in close-ups with the actors’ faces turned from the camera so lip reading doesn’t work. And you are right about all the other audio pollution. Don’t these creative idiots watch their own product on small screens with mediocre audio before they finalize the work?
..don’t knock it until...
