THE BEATLES' 35 Greatest Guitar Techniques

My daughter and I were listening to a bunch of varying music on this pretty afternoon while out and about. Some Beatles thrown in, too, as we are both fans.

I was reminded of this video I came across a few months ago. I have just about zero musical ability, but I enjoy music hugely, and I also enjoy watching about music talk. I find this video fun and interesting.

Not to highjack the thread ;) But the Allman Brothers were spectacular, weren't they folks? Saw them in concert years ago. Southern rock at its very best...2 of my favs:

Allman Brothers Band - Blue Sky (Live) [YouTube video 7:15 mins]

Allman Brothers Blues Band - Melissa - Acoustic - Live Music - Gregg & Dickie Betts [YouTube video 5:37 mins]

It’s my guess that John was not being serious, but being a funny, sarcastic, smart-ass like he often was. (RIP).

I haven’t fully researched it, but as I also suspected it might be urban legend. Like Palin seeing Russia from her house.

And yes, I have heard the quote before. It certainly
sounds like a quip Lennon would have said.

https://www.reddit.com/r/TheBeatles/comments/1uawsq/ringo_isnt_even_the_best_drummer_in_the_beatles

From the above link:

We’ve all heard this quote but I’m yet to find a source. I don’t think John Lennon said it at all.
Here’s a quote from Mark Lewisohn which I’m taking as fact for now

*“The London Times newspaper quoted John Lennon ‘famously saying that Ringo wasn’t even the best drummer in the Beatles.’ John Lennon never said that, famously or otherwise, and that is the London Times quoting him,” Lewisohn said, making a point about his motivation for trying to separate fact from Fab Four mythology.

“For me, it’s [a case of tracking down] when did he say this? I’ve heard every John Lennon interview, I’ve read every John Lennon interview, I never saw that quote. So when did he say it, let alone when did he famously say it?” he said. “I determined to get to the bottom of it. And it’s actually a TV comedian’s joke from three years after John was killed, in 1983. So John Lennon never said it — and wouldn’t have said it.”*

Flashback to a band I was in. One of the guys started dating a woman and he began leaving practices early to be with her.

One night she overhead us calling her “Yoko” and got really pissed.

The Allman Brothers get a pass to hi-jack any thread.

There is currently a Lynyrd Skynyrd thread that is hi-jacked so people can bash each other over who isn’t Trump enough.

I would tag them but I can’t remember who it is.

But to un-hijack, and get back to the Beatles, is the opening of “Revolution” the most rock ‘n roll thing ever?

Ringo is vastly underrated as a drummer.

They asked Eric Clapton why he hadn’t invented any new guitar riffs.......his reply, Chuck Berry invented them all.

I mean you never listen to a Beatles’ song thinking, “Y’know the drumming could have been better.” No, Ringo wasn’t Keith Moon (although his son took Keith’s place in The Who), but he always played it just right.
