At Midnight Tonight,The Federal Government Will Shutdown. What Will You Do?
Check to see if any of the cats still outside want to come in.
Will probably do the same about an hour later.
As an aside, the other night when temps in South GA were in the twenties, I apparently left the back door unlocked after a final check.
When I woke up at 6 AM, it was wide open and all the cats were sitting in the kitchen waiting for breakfast.
If the folks in service at Downton Abbey thought they had a rigorous life...get in line.
And I am the Earl at this tiny estate. Why am I waiting on these damn cats?
I will gather my family in a storm drain.
So far, I’ve only from people who are NOT in the administration as to what will get shut down. As if they knew.
Shelter in place, maybe a little “duck and cover” if I can summon up the energy to do so.

Be grateful that my SS check comes on the 3rd weds of the month not the 4th weds.
I think it will only be 11 our time, but I am most likely to be in bed and asleep. The cat doesn’t usually come in for another couple hours, and then plants himself on my chest for scratching, or meows RIGHT in my face, if he wants to go outside. Either way, it will still be dark, and the coffee won’t brew until 6 a.m., after which I will get up, and hear the news about the shutdown. Just trying to decide whether I should tune to MSNBC or CNN first....
I get up and listen for that tree dropping in the forest that no one will hear or notice as this will be the same except for the media panic.
A mob of our grandchildren are coming over tomorrow for a sledding party.
Sleep peacefully knowing they won’t screw up anything tonight
Celebrate.
Then i’ll wait for the part where they solve it and tell each other how wonderful they are until the next needless created crisis.
Every non-freshman member of Congress should resign for failing to follow their constitutional duty to pass a budget. If they did their main job (passing a budget) we wouldn’t have the threat of shutdowns.
I love 'em.
