The state elections board website says Manning filed on Thursday in Montgomery County. Manning also tweeted a photo Thursday evening saying she is officially on the ballot. The transgender woman, known as Bradley Manning when she was convicted in 2013 of leaking more than 700,000 classified documents, was released from military prison in May after a 35-year sentence was commuted. Then-U.S. President Barack Obama commuted her sentence to time served plus 120 days in the final days of his administration.

I call to memory the recent election of Danica Roem down in Prince William County, VA. (First openly transgender elected to the VA House of Delegates) There was a HUGE amount of money from outside VA that poured into that local election.
If Manning is able to mobilize even a portion of the same groups (after all, the label "transphobic" is a positive one among leftists) then there could be a real race. I have no doubt that Cardin will win in the end, but it could be bloody.
Now let's play nice, this is FR after all.
To avoid mean spiritedness, let's have a compromise name for this exciting new entry into the political sphere:

2. Now, back to the transgender nonsense. Every single cell in this, uh, person’s body has both an X and a Y chromosome. Unless human biology has changed rather appreciatively in the 40 years since I had Biology in high school, that make this, uh, person a male. My Bio teacher was VERY specific in telling us that outward sexual cues were NOT what made a person a male or a female (and there were no other choices, BTW), but what their DNA said...and there was no room for argument or doubt. The mental problems that this, uh, person has make HIM unfit to hold public office, IMHO (not to mention the treasonous activities).

Good question - Maryland is more diverse than is apparent from voting records.
Then too, the MSM is going to love the drama and will completely ignore the treason you listed. This is 2018 - not 1945.
It’s also a way for Manning to raise money - like the Clintons.
My prediction is that the huge amount of money will go to the incumbent, and he will coast to an easy victory without spending hardly anything. Remember that Manning is facing him in a primary—not a general election.
The situation might draw some LGBT votes away from the incumbent, but it won’t make a difference, especially in a primary.
One would have to have no intelligence or be brain dead to vote for a mental and physically ill It like this for ANYTHING, let alone a government official. Gack!
Great - months of news items and pictures of the eunuch in the news now. You would think it would just slink away into some dark corner after the treason and prison episodes and play with it’s friends. A pox on the Dems who work so hard to make freaks more popular than normal, sane people.

People in MD may be tempted to go with Manning, but the incumbent will prevail because that’s what MD Democrats do.
MD has registration by party; so raiders would have to change affiliation at least 30 days before the primary.
And don't think this hasn't registered with the major factions in the Democratic Party.
Manning may be an unstable freak and convicted felon, but he will have backers with money and campaign experience, and enough of a base of hard-left anti-American nihilists to make the primary race interesting.
And what if, by some miracle, Manning wins the primary? Does Maryland have a "sore loser law" that would prevent Cardin from running as an independent?
Does the GOP have candidates willing and capable of being other than the usual sacrifical lambs in Maryland?
It would not be wise to underestimate Manning--not the man, but those who would use him. He might be wholly unsuitable to serve, but not wholly incapable of being elected.
We can only hope.
Ben Cardin has always tried to run as a relative "centrist" (his campaign slogan for 2012 was "My Friend Ben") -- somebody backing Manning could really leverage this...
The big "IF" is if the "LGBT" lobby gets behind Manning. If they do, then it could be an interesting primary season.
I'll be honest; I can't keep all the labels the left has straight. The whole "trans" thing was confusing. That is until someone explained that if I replaced "trans" with the word "fake" it would become crystal clear. So a "trans" woman (like C. manning) becomes a "fake woman. Once the whole thing was cleared up for me, I ended up exactly where your statement above begins.
