They tighten them so tight on me I’m up outta the chair and literally crying. And they wonder why my bp is so high.
I hate those auto BP machines. Sometimes they get so tight my fingers and hand goes numb. When I go to my Dr. after the nurse assistant has taken my BP on the machine, she always checks my BP manually and it is almost always some 20-30 points lower.

I guess that’s one good thing with being a Leftist - they don’t have to worry about increase resulting from that behavior.

I use an Omron for home readings. I check it in the morning and at night. It is very accurate. I highly recommend the Omron.
There are digital cuffs designed not to over tighten. Yes, overtightening raises BP and the person measuring is not supposed to do it. STOP them when it is too tight!

Interesting you should mention that they do things on purpose to deliberately get high BP readings. I have often wondered about that possibility. Sure seems to me they often do things that are supposed to be wrong when taking BP. Like talking to you while taking it; asking questions; taking it right after rushing you in from the waiting room; and making the cuff too tight. I had one nurse put the cuff around my forearm below my elbow instead of above it. Things that make you go hmmmm and destroy trust.
Keeping track of what is "normal for you" as far as blood pressure, temperature and pulse rate can be quite helpful to your doctor

Nope.
If you have high BP, it is necessary to make the cuff very tight to balance against internal pressure.
Then the pressure is gradually reduced until pulsating blood flow can be heard...and then until it’s completely gone.
Whether a machine or a nurse, the first step is to tighten the cuff to the point no pulse can be heard.

Back when I was still trucking I had constant headaches. I’m talking head splitting, “am I going to die” headaches.
Heading home from North Dakota with a load I stopped at a Wal-Mart to get a few things.
Decided to use their BP station to check my BP.
The machine gave a 800/600 reading. I laughed and walked out.
Next day I stopped at another Wal-Mart to check my BP. The reading was 700/450. I got a bit concerned and wrote down both readings and called to make an appointment with my doctor.
Every day I checked my BP and the readings were always 700-800/400-600.
When I got to the doctor I gave his NP the list of my readings. She laughed and shook her head.
Two minutes later she ran from the room and came right back with the doctor and a nurse. They helped me onto the table and the doc took my BP.
He gave me a shot and told me not to move. They left the BP cuff on and a nurse checked me every few minutes.
The doc told me my BP had been 850/740 when he took it. Told me I was lucky to be alive. I’m now on lisinopril and my BP runs 130/80 consistently.
If not for those Wal-Mart BP stations I may never have been concerned enough to see the doctor.
I no longer diss the machines. Another tool to use in health maintenance.
