Taylor Swift’s ‘Reputation’ tour shaping up to be a disaster [Tix $$$$]
NY POST ^ | 01/01/2018 | By Richard Morgan

What is Taylor Swift’s “Reputation” worth? Not the jacked-up prices she’s charging for concert tickets.

That’s the verdict from ticked-off fans, who are balking at buying seats for the 28-year-old pop star’s tour to promote her new “Reputation” album, citing stratospheric markups and greedy sales gimmicks.

“I paid $150 for my ticket with amazing seats for the 1989 tour. Now for the same seats I have to pay about $500,” Twitter user “swiftieloves” recently griped.

A look at Ticketmaster’s interactive seat charts confirms that Swift’s schedule of 33 dates for the North American “Reputation” tour has yet to produce a single sellout, from its May 8 launch in Phoenix to its Oct. 6 finale in Arlington, Texas.

That’s despite seats being available to the general public since Swift’s birthday on Dec. 13. By comparison, all the dates on Swift’s “1989” tour in 2015 “sold out within minutes,” according to concertsandsports.com.

That’s pretty much all concerts other than the old past their prime guys..... Concerts are outrageous, period these days.

That was right around the time that Kiss got really huge. People were fired up to see the show. The guys from Kiss walked through the lobby of the arena (in Lincoln Nebraska) with all of their makeup and costumes on before the doors opened while everyone was freezing outside in line and people went apeshit. When they finally opened the doors, they only opened two for a huge crowd of people and some people got pushed through a plate glass window. I saw a girl maybe 14-15 years old with a huge gash on her arm who was bleeding profusely. Kiss was awesome as always. There were a bunch of high school kids in the row in front of us smoking weed. I had never seen that done or smelled it. I was in 7th grade. Ahhh the 70’s.

For the 70’s rock scene, the autocorrect sentence is pretty appropriate.

I was a kid in the 70’s and always hated these ubiquitous rock bands. Made my skin crawl.

I saw KISS for the first time a few years back, on one of their "Retirement, This is Absolutely Our Last Tour" tours. Was with Uncle Ted, who was bombastic as usual.

Sat there, taking in all the spectacle. "Yep, saw that move before. Yep, seen that. Yeah, that too. Yep, (band so-and-so) did that last time I saw them." And so on.

Then I realized that the reason why I'd seen all of these things before is that KISS invented them. The other bands were just copycats.

Changed my entire perspective. Great show in a fairly small (few thousand seats?) venue.

Worst show? Fleetwood Mac, a few years ago. No energy. I'm not even sure if Lindsay Buckingham was on stage. Stevie Nicks needed a teleprompter to remember the words to her songs. Was about as exciting as listening to Muzak in an elevator. Was too bad, I'm sure that they were great in their heyday.

I heard a rumour she is a Trump suppportrr but afraid of coming public.

Hey, if someone wanted to pay 500 bucks to watch me sing I’d gladly charge them.

Her talent is worth whatever someone will pay, and good luck to her

huge gash on her arm who was bleeding profusely.

And nobody got sued. Back in the 70's we believed in "shit happens", took care of the problem and didn't call lawyers...

Ronnie Montrose

Never did get to see him. And now I never will. Sad loss.

It is because her fan base is so young, they can charge that amount.

I have a friend who has a daughter who is a HUGE Taylor Swift fan. The Phoenix concert is close to her birthday, and all she wants is to go to this concert, so she and some friends are going.

Dad, who makes a ton of money, is paying for it - an 8 hour drive, two hotel rooms, five tickets to the show, food, etc. The total for the trip is in the $4,000 range.

I was incredulous. “How,” I asked, “can you do this?”

His answer - “I can afford to, plus, what the hell can you buy a 15 year old, short of a car, for her birthday? I’m getting off cheap.”

What the market will bear doesn’t seem to be what Swift’s “people” were thinking.

I got to see him with Johnny.
By the way - if you look at the “Blues Man” album by Johnny Winter - I own the cane he is pictured with on the cover.
He had quite a can collection (he broke his hip twice.)

I have another from his cane collection as well, but it is not pictured on any album cover.

Johnny Winter was one of my favorites.

I’m not a fan, but all the big acts have to charge more for shows these days because everyone steals their music.

Fat Elvis? During his later, "Donut" period?

You made the right call. Alice Cooper in his heyday must've been something to see.

The iPhone X would’ve been cheaper than that

I don't think Enya has ever done a whole concert.

Even guest appearances are rare.

Oops.
My mistake.
I was thinking of Rick Derringer, not Ronnie Montrose.

I never saw Montrose either.

And the really cool thing is that she stuck around and watched the show after whoever patched her up. I saw her on the way out after the show with a big wrapped up bandage on her arm.

Ha, ha! Okay grandpa. Just kidding. I go to concerts all the time for less than $50 at Hard Rock cafe and House of Blues.

“I remember a ticket to an Elvis concert cost $15 in 1977,”

A few years before that, I got to see Elvis in Tampa for $10 per ticket. And was HAPPY to pay that much!

Taylor Swift goes out of her way not to be political. Her fan base are teenage girls: they generally do not have $500 for concert tickets,
