Barbie shoes were also good for getting lost and stepped on, IIRC.

Got a basic Lionel set at 4, and a railcar, accessory, or more track for many Christmases afterward.
As a grownup with some cash, bought more Lionel. Still have it, converted my pingpong table into a trainboard.

Oh, boy. I’m older than this list.

I had the Chuck Connors cap pistol - it used double roll caps, and was loud as hell when you fire it. Hey, do you remember the “cap rockets?” You’d pull up the metal firing pin on the nose, and slip a cap under it - then toss it high into the air, and when it came down, the cap would go off.

My grandfather got this one the year I was born. I still have it. All original parts and it still works great!

Remember the “water powered” rockets? You’d fill the 1st stage up with water, and air pump the heck out of it, then press the launch button and whoosh - up it’d go on a stream of water.

My favorite toy was Mr. Machine also. My father knew that I was a ‘gearhead’ and bought it for me Christmas.
While my original one was lost in a move, I have an another original one. My father always called me Mr. Machine from the time I was 4.

I still own a Simon, Transformers, Rubik’s Cube, Lego, Atari, Nintendo and original Gameboy, and my mom still has my old Cabbage Patch Kid from 83!
Great toys.
I went to buy something for my niece, and my goodness I was almost about to give up. Everything just looks like they put almost too much into the toys today. You need tablets, apps, phones, and a wifi connection for a lot of this stuff.
Whatever happened to just 4 D-sized batteries?

I thought all you old timers had was a log; you loved it, and were thankful for it!
LOL! Merry Christmas!

I got the Rockem Sockem robots. Didn’t work that well.
For one the base was so light that you ended it up lifting it up off the floor or table when you were trying to fight.

Dont feel bad, Lysie...there are plenty of liberals around.
Liberals are like slinkies...They dont serve any apparent use, but they are fun to watch fall down the stairs!

Am I so old that they dont have history for my birth year? No toys back then? Very few toys in 1938. They had coal and cinders for stockings.
