What did you do when you retired?
Getting close to the point that I may be able to retire.
Thinking about reselling,yard sales,goodwills,estates sales.
Always enjoyed junking,antiquing.
Gotta stay busy.

Other forums drive me nuts. You have no idea who's responding to what.
here's the thing...our demographic has changed and it will continue to change...
I doubt any muslim or any latino would want anything American...I collected pewter and it will probably be forced on a niece...

I had to wear a wrist watch every day of my working life so I could make sure I was where I needed to be at a certain time. I worked in the prison system. Also used a calendar watch. It came in handy when writings reports and signing log books when I made my rounds. I threw out the watch I'd worn all those years after I retired, but then had to buy another cheap one a few years later when I went overseas on vacation. I took a three week tour of the British Isles, and needed the watch to keep track of time, and make sure I was back at the bus stop when they came to pick us up. Haven't worn it since.
I retired for two months recently then my replacement quit. Back working 3 to 5 days a week. (When I moved from LA back to Texas 2 years ago I realized I could afford to retire.) I almost accepted a new full time job last week but there are too many travel plans and events on my 2018 calendar! I’d like interim work eventually. Shopping and dining out on weekdays is great!
Interesting...I keep reading that millennials are not into collecting stuff. That bears that out. Lots of them moving into smaller townhouses, too, instead of single family homes.
I have heard the same thing about antiques.
Including silver and crystal.
Nobody wants it any more and you can hardly give it away.
Silver is going mostly for scrap value.
Thought about moving closer to the kids and grandkids?p
I run into elderly people who do nothing...they don't volunteer, don't get involved with the grandkids much...they complain about their aches and pains...
I really want to be one of those older persons that people really admire for my energy...
once you have your foundation set in retirement, everything is cream on the top...
Took up duplicate bridge seriously and like to travel around the country playing bridge tournaments.
I already had many established hobbies that I was able to pursue full-time. After a month or two it was if I had never worked at a job. Now I work for myself. Enjoy.

You can still make some money on antiques,you just have to know that what you thought was rare in 1960,isn't unless it is,if that makes sense.
My Mom and Dad did all the downsizing before they moved out of their huge colonial house and into a condo. Then downsized again when they moved to a wonderful brand new retirement place. Dad passed first, then Mom about a decade later.We donated her furniture and I think we had about two boxes of personal effects to deal with.
Doing that in advance is a GREAT GIFT to your kids, indeed!

Then I got bored and moved from Lynden (WA) to Scottsdale (AZ) to become the salaried executive director of a passenger rail advocacy group.
There is life after retirement.

Yes I have thought about it but by the time I get up the nerve to make the move which would be very difficult to me, They might move themselves.
I always hoped they would move near me but about decided it is not going to happen.
Isn't that the truth!? Plus, people on other boards are often rude jerks, there are lots of ugly fights that last forever, and they get trolled by socialists, communists and assorted lib kooks who just don't quit and won't leave. Somehow FR has managed to stay this pleasant little sane backwater on the web. Kudos to JimRob for not trying to "monetize" this place which would totally ruin it and keeping it this cozy club.

I just Love Army surplus stores but figured I could just do Gun Shows.
