Could mouthwash put you at risk for diabetes? What you need to know
Today.com ^ | 11/29/17 | A. Pawlowski

After three years, 30 percent of the people who used mouthwash twice or more a day progressed to pre-diabetes or diabetes, compared to 20 percent of those who used the rinses less frequently. Ultimately, the very frequent mouthwash users had a 55 percent higher risk of developing one of the conditions than the less frequent users, the study notes. The impact stayed the same when the researchers controlled for age, sex, smoking, physical activity, alcohol consumption and other factors.

No offense but using mouthwash is like ancient times perfuming to mask odors, definitively a bad hygiene practice.

Odor coming from rotting food traces must be removed by brushing and flossing and not masked by mouthwash or chewing gums. In practice, brushing alone is never enough (no matter what the ads tell us), the only way to have a clean mouth is flossing, one of the best modern inventions IMHO.

Uncontrolled diabetes can cause either ketosis or diabetic ketoacidosis, both of which result in bad breath.

That’s one of the early warning signs: that the patient’s breath contains lots of ketones, which depending on who you ask smells like either nail polish remover or rotting fruit.

[ To say nothing of Dihydrogen Oxide

Ban it now!!
http://www.dhmo.org/facts.html ]

Are you a damned FOOL!!! N2 or DiNitride Gas pollution is FAR worse than Dihydrogen Monoxide!!!

N2 pollution levels are at 700,000 Parts PER MILLION!!!!

If it Rises by just 30% You won’t be able to breathe ANYMORE!!!!!

Did you know that evil potato chip companies package their chips with this horrible pollutant, and they say it is to “prevent spoilage”.... What will it do to the human body? That is what they are not asking... Not to mention the tires on your CAR are sometimes filled with 100% N2 gas, imagine having a leaking tire in your garage spilling this toxic gas out all over!!!!

Some ice cream makers have even used the LIQUID form of this dangerous gas make ICE CREAM, the ice cream that you feed your children!!! In it’s liquid form it can cause tissue damage to skin and can cause fatal organ damage if swallowed!!!! And these ice cream makers are just using it to make their product like it poses no risk whatsoever!!!

We must end DiNitride Gas Pollution NOW, or no one will ever breathe safe again!!!!

Why nitrogen, you ask? That question has an interesting answer.

Your lungs evolved to be excellent detectors of carbon dioxide, and it doesn’t take much of a concentration to force you to breathe.

However, your lungs don’t detect nitrogen at all. So you could start breathing pure nitrogen and notice nothing until oxygen deprivation put your lights went out in about 15 seconds.

Another good question is why we don’t use nitrogen asphyxiation for capital punishment? Nitrogen is readily available and solves the weird problem of shortage of lethal agents used in execution.

Mine is more related to my OCD-like tendencies. I get my teeth cleaned every four months. I brush after every meal. I floss like a madman (my wife has to tell me to stop). I used mouthwash for the extra zing clean.

My older kids and I have started using charcoal toothpaste. I bought it solely because it’s glycerin free, not for the charcoal, but hope I never have to go without it.

The stuff is amazing. Teeth feel cleaner after just a day, and get better with each use. I splurged on the polishing powder and adding that in has helped even more.

My teenager was talking about how much he likes it and then said that he’d never seen my teeth so white. Makes me cringe at just how bad my teeth must have looked before.

90% of the people who died in car accidents consumed carrots at least once in the six months prior to the accident.

Be careful out there !

While you might not notice any negative effects right away, the American Dental Association warns that activated charcoal is too abrasive and will wear away your tooth enamel. Once the enamel is gone, it’s gone forever. The layer beneath, known as the dentin, becomes more visible. Dentin has a natural yellow tinge, meaning that you’re likely to be left with teeth that look more yellow or stained than they did to begin with.

http://www.colgate.com/en/us/oc/oral-health/cosmetic-dentistry/teeth-whitening/article/what-is-charcoal-toothpaste-0517

I will add that if you have any problems with teeth being sensitive, the last thing you need is to wear away enamel that protects against sensitivity.

Well, that is good information to have!

Hmmm...I’ll have to go back to ordering tooth suds. I liked being able to just buy this at the store.

“”I don’t see “weight” in that list.”

or diet.”

or ethnic demographic, or genetic factors, or phase of the moon.

Don’t think there is a known root cause for type 1 or 2.

There will NEVER be a cure until insurance companies and the government get out of the medicine game. There is simply too much inflated money to be made. A cure would end the testing, chronic care, pharmacopia, ancillary treatment gravy-train.

...kinda like anything viral....or cancer.

.02, YMMV

What? You've never seen pictures of "hayseed" farmers with a blade of grass or straw in their mouths? Toothcare started in the Stone Age with items like twigs and grasses.

“[ Fun with statistics. ]

100% of all people who have breathed in N2 Nitrogen gas into their lungs have died or will die at some point in the future!!

We must ban N2 gas!” see what you did there!

and that dangerous dihydro-monoxide...it is a killer...

Cheers
