While this was recorded in 2008, I still remain grateful to see rock stars and other notable people stand up and salute my fellow Veterans. Gene Simmons and the band provide a great rock show for them, and it's awesome to see!
Apparently, according to this interesting interview, Israel-born Gene Simmons decided two years ago to “grow up” marry his long-time girlfriend. He says in the interview that he was arrogant and selfish and is willing to accept that, admit that, and move on.

He’s come to grips with “stuff”. Good for him. I hope he turns out OK, and guess what, I’m praying that the leader of “Kids In Satan’s Service” gets saved and become a “Kid In Jesus’ Service”.
Awesome, and thank you for sharing. I hope the same for him as well!
You’re welcome.
Who woulda thunk it. I mean I used to think KISS members were hell-bound for sure. But I’ve changed too and realize that God’ s grace and great love is greater than anything else. And there is always a story behind things we don’t know about. That’s why judging others is absolutely the worst thing we can do.
It was the sinners who came to Jesus, not the “righteous” (those who thought they were righteous).
I never was a KISS fan really but always liked Gene. He seems level-headed, sensible, and a good father. Loved his TV show and especially the episode where he returned to Israel to visit his fathers burial site, which made me cry seeing how it touched him.
Never would have associated that with the KISS leader. The more you go the more you realize what you didn't know you didn't know.
Back in 73 Gene already knew that KISS was not a band but a business and that the stage personas and music were just the product produced and has talked about that pretty openly. As the other original founder, Paul has always had significant input as to the bands direction but Gene was the business minded member. Gene understood merchandising and was the force behind producing most if not all of the products that have been marketed with their name. Somewhere along the line I remember seeing him speaking about knowing at the beginning that the makeup and merchandising was also a tool that would allow them to become a multi-generational band that wouldnt just disappear like so many bands have. Even today they still appear in various animated shows to continue to appeal to the next generation. Regardless of what one thinks of their music, as a business man Gene really should command respect and really has few equals. How many others would have had the foresight to use a bass as a hammer to forge a billion dollar empire?
As to the patriotism, thats not new either. Going back to some point at least to the 80s theyve done the national anthem, and have stopped the show to give patriotic and/or anti-drug commentary. Not at every show, not all those in any one show but, its been there in the shows.
All of this really surprises me, but I’m really glad about it. Redemption at work.
He’s an interesting man. I saw him recently on Fox News. He’s quite different than he appeared back in the day. He also looks the size of an NFL player.
