A fearless female soldier put her martial arts training to good use when she fought off dozens of Jewish ultra-Orthodox anti-draft protesters during a rally in Jerusalem. Off-duty soldier Nomi Golan fended off a baying crowd of protesters, demonstrating against the arrest of two yeshiva students who refused to show up to the military recruitment office. Using a series of expert karate kicks and chops, Golan held back the violent rabble who were preventing a car from driving up a street.

The ultra-Orthodox are nutcases. They’re sort of like spontaneous Islamic law or Judaism before Moses. Of course, Mad Mo based his cult on a very literal reading of pre-Mosaic law, so I guess that’s logical.

I do not approve of a large mob of unfriendly men surrounding a lone woman, regardless of the situation. When that does happen, I’m more than okay with the woman kicking one or more men into their synagogue’s soprano section.
I lived in Israel for a period of time.
I never found them to be nutcases anymore than any mainstream religion.

As an aside, I’ve spent some time among the ultra-Orthodox (long story). Anyway, I have great respect for them, for their civility and for their emphasis on education. But yes, many of them are freeloaders.
That video was scary. I don’t know how she managed to retain her composure; must have gone through some seriously rigorous training.
Just like any group of people, you have good and bad. The problem with the Orthodox is, they have been told to resist the Jewish state since it began. I don’t really understand why, but they seem to believe Zionism is wrong. I suppose they are waiting for Messiah to come and give them a state. Maybe it has to do with killing, I don’t know. I’m sure when some Arab country prepares to invade, they would step up. I can’t imagine anyone waiting to be slaughtered due to some vapor of a principle sent down from their fathers.

What a bunch of pansies those guys are; hope they are real proud of themselves. Perhaps they would be happier living amongst the muzzies rather than being drafted into the Israeli military.

Try living in New York. Non-ultras (Jews and Gentiles alike) are afraid even to venture into the ultra-Orthodox areas of Brooklyn. And because the Chasidim all have about 11 children each, they’re expanding into neighboring areas and pushing out everybody else. They don’t want to just live there, but take over. Just like the Muslims.
