Grew up in a mixed faith house. We always went to Sunday Mass on the east side and then after Mass to Dad’s Serbian Orthodox church picnics. Oy the food! Complete with dancing priest.

I was talking to a friend today about a bunch of blackberries I have in my freezer and I don’t know what to do with them. Now I do!!! THX!

Think I’ll throw in some cream cheese.

Now I've renewed my quest for McDonald's copycat breakfast sausage. A few years ago, someone said Walmart had some frozen patties, about 30, in a white package. Ours has some in a new pkg; some say it has changed. But I want to try it just in case, Great Value brand which I have found pretty good for certain products.

My sister and I have been on this quest for a long time. Our mother's cousin on a farm made some homemade and it was the best either of us had ever had.

My mom used to buy Bird's Farm mild (we like the meat flavor and not too spicy). Some say Johnsonville is contracted with McD's for their proprietary recipe. Who knows?

I'm going to try Chef John's home made breakfast sausage (he has several recipes). I think the secret is fennel which I would grind finer because the seeds are sharp and could be dangerous for us older people. I'd back way off on what else he put in it until I know if it worked.

This one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=24hA3dD8SjM

And yes I like spicy sausage in other things like pasta with tomatoes and onions as the main ingredients. Pizza, the local shop I like best I love their sausage topping. I saw a fennel seed piece in it (has a unique flavor) so I know I'm on the right track with that.

I'm not asking for suggestions on this one as I have some lined up to try first, just thought I'd share. And I thought ours changed to beef instead of pork which tastes just as good. Maybe it's a regional thing.

I've got some black raspberries buried in mine somewhere. They keep for a long time but I don't know how long. I don't know if my stomach can handle the seeds any more so I'd try to strain them out.

Nut allergy here, too......but I can eat pistachios and almonds.

Nuts fall in four botanic categories........not all in the holiday nut bowl are nuts....some are tree seeds.

There are nut substitutes but I never use them.....I just leave them out of the recipe.

Maybe use sesame seeds? Or maybe French craqueline shards?

I could use chopped pumpkin seeds. Sometimes salted or not, depending on the effect. I do love pistachios. Maybe they are not from the same botanical family.

My adult onset nut allergy is severe for macadamia and less so for almonds but I get the itchy mouth from a taste of almonds. So I stopped eating all nuts except peanuts.

Be careful......do not eat nuts.

I once had to be rushed to the hospital.....not from eating a nut..... but from eating a cookie that once had a nut in it that was removed.

Thanks to you both. We actually got a good deal on frozen ones today, but I’ll make them soon and will save your ideas.

I know; it’s terrible. Perhaps the upside is that they’re complicated enough to make that we won’t do it often ;-)

There’s a coupon for ‘Oui’ in our Sunday paper this week.

In my market Oui is rather inexpensive compared to other yogurt’s.

Possibly introductory price?

You’ll love the little glass jars it’s sold in.

I love falafel, but I’ve only had really good falafel once, in a little hippie restaurant. Another thing I have to try making.

If I’d known about the little jars, I would have looked for it today. Will be sure to check it out next weekend.

Those are cute! You could use them for herbs and spices, too.

Herbs and spices....great idea.....cver the tops w/ checkered fabric circles secured w / tw ine.

The jars look larger in that pic, for some reason.....they are actually smaller ......like little jam pots.

The half pork - half beef came from my sister who was married to a Italian. His mom taught her and it was the only way to make meatballs.
