I bought a Cutco fillet knife for my SiL . He loves it, $100. Expensive.
I’m a Wusthof Classic man.
Recently bought another Sil a set on Henkels Professional. Really like the shape of the Chef’s knife.

My usual wedding gift is a good knife set. Emphasis on ‘good’.

When I sold my house last year the real estate agent gave me a gift. She gave me a CUTCO knife. I’d never even heard of one before. She had her name and telephone number inscribed on it. It’s a beautiful knife and I love it and I do wish I could buy the whole set. But they’re very expensive. I thought it was a great innovative gift to give a client.

I went to “management-trainee” sessions to learn about Kirby Vacuums cleaners many years ago. Kirby vacuums were fine machines, built like tanks and extremely versatile due to the numerous attachments. As the day wore on, it became sillier and sillier to me, and when the instructor turned the vacuum into a leaf blower, I lost it. Started laughing, couldn’t stop, and had to leave.

Thanks for the suggestion but I do as little cooking as possible these days so my knife needs are minimal.

I still have the knives and the scissors after 20 years. The cooking scissors are the best I’ve ever had and still use them daily.

Ironically in the net world there is probably a niche market to exploit there.

Cutco makes a decent knife, as you now know. Victorinox are very comparable in quality for a fraction of the price. Victorinox price is much more in line for this class of knife. Amazon has a great selection. http://amzn.to/2yzP1Wy

A friend of mine bought some high end Shun and a matching set of Victorinox. He hung them on either side of his kitchen sink, on magnets. The Shun Chef knife was over $400. He bought the Shun for himself, and the Victorinox for his kids. Turns out, he rarely used the Shun and consistantly reached for the Victorinox. The Victorinox was not nearly as good of a knife as the Shun, but it worked better for him. http://amzn.to/2yzP1Wy

Ever watch ‘America’s Test Kitchen’? Good cooking show.
The Victorinox line is their choice.

I bought my Wusthof Classic knives circa 1980. Still love them.
But.. There’s a number of new lines out now I’d love to experiment with .
Especially taken with the Japanese Damascus steel knives. Gorgeous.

I love my Cutco knives and kitchen shears. They’re guaranteed for life and have been worth the price for me.

There’s a Cutco telemarketing office near my office. Pretty scary employees there.

Don't tell me, second place there gets you a set of steak knives...
