Late Sunday morning, hundreds of Civil War reenactors concluded their battle on a rolling patch of grass 80 miles west of Washington.
In normal years, taps would be played and each side would march back to its tent encampments. But this was hardly a normal year. Last week, organizers announced they had received a letter threatening bodily harm to attendees. And Saturday, the battlefield had to be temporarily cleared because a suspicious device, possibly a pipe bomb, was found.

Sure.
They won the war.
It might have been different if it was the other way around.
The destruction and/or denial of history is a terrible thing.
This country is wracked with division because of the Taliban Left and young people are going to have a difficult time ever learning about what this country once was.
Imagine if Hillary were POTUS?
Any mention of the “Civil War” or display of Confederate Flags would be grounds for federal prosecution.
Reenactors usually carry both uniforms. We have a local group and they represent a Virginia regiment and a Pennsylvania regiment.
We were talking last night about a tv actor who looked like Fredrick Douglas and that few today would know his name much less what he looked like. Sad, especially since they think they are so smart and know everything.
It’s all fun and games until the s’more schnapps runs out.
Several years ago Britain issued a set of stamps commemorating the Battle of Britain. Someone objected to the depiction of a swastika on the tail of a German plane. One veteran replied, “It wouldn’t have been much of a show if they hadn’t shown up”.
The first thing any ‘left wing’ revolution does once they gain power is to re-write history, to show that there was nothing before the revolution that was good.
“We’ve always been at war with Eastasia, Winston.”................
LOL!.......reminds me of the story of a British Airways pilot coming into one of Berlin’s two airports. He was advised by the tower to take a certain approach to a particular runway.
There was some confusion in the instructions and the tower finally said, “Have you not been to Berlin before?”
The British Airways pilot replied, “Just once, about thirty years ago. But I didn’t stay long.”...................
Forget historical accuracy. Politically correct activists must be appeased. I’ve noticed over the years that on the box covers of model kits of German warplanes of WW2 that the swastikas on the tails of the planes were replaced by black crosses like those on the fuselages. Probably the same for n the actual kits.
Wouldn’t be reenactments without both sides represented. In order to appease the PC fanatics “reenactment s would be reduced to guys in only Union uniforms shooting at each other.
Here in Lexington, Kentucky, a brand new school named Frederick Douglass High School just opened last August, about four miles from my house. Nevertheless, we still have to educate folks on who our buildings are named after. We also have a Henry Clay High School, since this is Mr. Clay’s home town, and I have to constantly tell people, even local residents, who he was.
Do you suppose the South would have freed the slaves if they had won the war? I mean, after all to listen to today’s Confederates-in-the attic it was never about slavery.
IMHO I think the longer some kids stay in school the dumber they get.
I’ve been a modeler for years and I know what you’re talking about. They won’t show anything on the tail of any WW2 German plane but almost all the kits include the swastika. if not then you have to go to a dealer and order a decal sheet. Stupid if you ask me.
