Video shows monster-sized mystery cat in MississippiĀ field
WREG ^

"I can assure you this is not a house cat," Sluder said in a Facebook post. "It looks to be the same size as a medium to large dog."

Wildlife officials have said that big cats like panthers or cougars have been extinct in Mississippi for 100 years due to habitat changes and hunting, but people claim to have spotted the animals over the past 30 years . "Most biologists credit these sightings to misidentification, released exotic pets or (rarely) animals passing through from places like Texas where lions still live," the Mississippi State University Extension Service says.

No word what species this giant feline might be.

There is a relatively new fad of hybrid house cats that are huge. Larger than most dogs.

Looks like a young mountain lion, out hunting mice in the grass.

The shape of its head seems panther-like.

Just a big black cat and not necessarily as big as they are claiming. Watch it pounce on probably a mouse.............

Looks like a Cougar. Mountain Lion. Long tail gives it away.

From the small head and tail size, it looks to be a mountain lion type cat. Dunno how similar that is to panthers and cougars?

“it looks to be a mountain lion type cat. Dunno how similar that is to panthers and cougars”

Three names. Same animal - except for where it lives.

Hmmmm . . . Revelation 6:7-8 tells of a coming time described as a milieu of horrible death in the period when the Black Horseman is unleashed on the earth. That prophetic period includes death by animals. Again, hmmmm.

7 When the Lamb broke the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature saying, “Come.” 8 I looked, and behold, an ashen horse; and he who sat on it had the name Death; and Hades was following with him. Authority was given to them over a fourth of the earth, to kill with sword and with famine and with pestilence and by the wild beasts of the earth.

The panther is like a leopard,
Except it hasn't been peppered.
Should you behold a panther crouch,
Prepare to say Ouch.
Better yet, if called by a panther,
Don't anther.

Words to live by.

A friend of mine adopted one from an animal shelter.

It was easily as large as the one in the picture.
