An agent is different from an officer. While an officer can, say, go to the boss' softball game, to to HQ, ect, an agent is different:
Ideally an agent remains unwitting to his actual paymasters are. That way if things go bad the agent can be burned with almost total impunity and there are no repercussions.
For this guy to have become extremely angry with a dramatic lashing out in the manner we see at Mandalay Bay, it's not an actual requirement that he KNEW he was, say, trying to get back at the CIA or FBI.
Because it's possible he thought he was working for someone else, a key way in which this would differ from Fast & Furious, in which gun stores and transfer agents had been approached directly.
There are a couple of things to surmout in order to make the "Gun deal gone bad" theory stick:
1.) Oh, so the deal just happened to be scheduled as a 22,000 person concert was going on nearby, huh..?
2.) Why are there these other records of Paddock staying at concert-facing high-rise hotels at 2 other locations at American locations very far away..? He's finnicky about having live music for his gun deals, huh...? Isn't this instead the prey stalking behavior of a VERY angry person whose focus isn't actuall on gun deals..?
So as you can read, I'm still unclear.

Sorry, but the “shooter on the ground” is not on the ground. The cabbie is on the same side of the building as one of the windows the shooter used. When the shooter switches windows it sounds far away because the sound isn’t travelling directly to the microphone.

The phone number used to reserve the Airbnb homes is registered to Marilou Danely. Marilou left for Hong Kong on September 25. ALL the airbnb registrations occurred prior to her leaving.
What’s my point? Well, I’ve used Airbnb, as many of you have. When I registered my stay, the homeowner contacted me several times giving me little bits of useful info about the place, confirmed I would be coming, etc. I’m guessing this is pretty standard for people renting out their home to a stranger. So, there’s a really good chance that one of these homeowners called that number. This means that Marilou almost certainly knew about these reservations. One potential hole in this is if Paddock actually had control of the phone, even though it’s registered under Marilou Danely.

I am not saying he switched windows at this sequence if I understand what you are saying. The first (single) shots started here where it is claimed he was shooting at the tanks. I think I hear other shots from a different local shortly after the first 2 or 3. That is when some in the crowd started getting (”what’s going on”) restless. Go to about the 3 minute mark and you should hear them at about 3:10.

Why did they turn in their devices?
The FBI thinks it’s still 1963. They appealed to the patriotic Americans to turn in theie photos and film, too. What the people got back (if they got it back) was damaged if it showed anything they didn’t jive with the official story.
