FULL TITLE:Vice President Mike Pence LEAVES Indianapolis Colts game after several San Francisco 49ers took a knee during the national anthem - and Trump tweets that it was at his request

Vice President Mike Pence left Sunday's National Football League game between the Indianapolis Colts and the San Francisco 49ers after several 49ers took a knee during the playing of the national anthem.

'I left today’s Colts game because President Trump and I will not dignify any event that disrespects our soldiers, our Flag, or our National Anthem,' Pence said in a statement that the White House quickly pushed out to reporters.

Soon after Pence exited the game, Trump took credit for it being his idea.

'I asked @VP Pence to leave stadium if any players kneeled, disrespecting our country. I am proud of him and @SecondLady Karen,' Trump wrote on Twitter.

With his swift stadium exit, Pence reignited the fight between the administration and the NFL that had quieted down in recent days, replaced in the news cycle by the hurricane in Puerto Rico and the shooting in Las Vegas, along with Trump's high-profile tiffs with his Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and Sen. Bob Corker, R-Tenn., who the president knocked on Twitter today.

Just wondering if he’s saluting but we can’t see his hand on the side of his head due to the photo angle.

Ask him if he is a veteran. He is not a Regular Army Officer, he is what is called an AGR Officer, Army Guard and Reserve, a full time National Guard officer who should be setting the example. He failed today. He knew the controversy surrounding the NFL and the administration. He should have had the good sense to know cameras would be all over him next to the VP and he better do something other than standing like a cigar store indian. The Army DOES salute indoors vs the Navy which does not. I spent many years as a commissioned Army officer. Don’t try to tell me something that is bogus.

As the AG, he is a National Guard officer and answers to the Governor vs a Reserve Officer who answers to Washington. There is the Indiana National Guard and US Army and other service Reserve units in Indiana but there is no such thing as “Guard Reserve.” You are one or the other.

Anyone know why the military man to the right of Pence is NOT doing a hand salute?

That comment by Delanie Walker is especially ironic, since NFL fans responded by the many thousands to express condolences when his aunt and uncle were killed by a drunk driver on their way back from the 2013 Super Bowl. He can piss off.

He is inside. He doesn’t need to salute. He renders honor by standing at attaention for the Anthem.
From the FM 7-21-13 chapetr 4
Salutes are not required when:

Indoors, unless reporting to an officer or when on duty as a guard.
A prisoner.
Saluting is obviously inappropriate. In any case not covered by specific instructions, render the salute.
Either the senior or the subordinate is wearing civilian clothes.

He would have enhanced the President’s and VP’s position by saluting and no one would have even said a word. That’s my point.

That comment by Delanie Walker is especially ironic and idiotic from someone, whose IQ is probably lower than his NFL jersey number, #82!
