They never used to be like that. The ideology of many of the politicians after independence was not as far left, although there were a lot of communists in the wars of independence and civil war; but the big change seems to have come with the European Union.

Ireland has not been a sovereign nation since 1972. The Third Amendment, which was created to formalize the joining with the EEC (now the EU), puts European law supreme over Irish law.

Why have them fake? If the Irish are in love with totalitarian thugs they’ll print them with the smallest suggestion... Shame on them.
