Ali came to the Americas by way of Ecuador in late 2016. He'd just finished a university degree in Malaysia, where he'd earned a scholarship to study construction management. He couldn't return to Saudi Arabia, where he'd lived before, nor to his now-war-torn home of Yemen. He moved to Ecuador because he'd heard he would be able to get residency there. But that hope never came to fruition. Once he arrived, he found he could only stay for six months. So he went then to the United States embassy, to try his luck at getting a student visa.

On a side note, let them settle in Mexico. Although, I find it hard to understand how they can. Mexico offers no benefits, so how are they supporting themselves? Or is Mexico allowing them, knowing that the smugglers will get them across the border eventually, so that they may wreak havoc on the USA?

Why couldn’t he return to Saudi Arabia?! I can imagine Muslim immigrants have a hard time in Mexico, which is probably 95% Catholic. But not as hard a time as a Christian immigrant would have in SA. Oh wait, there are none.

What we used to desire as a melting pot, Canada embraced as a salad bowl, where ethnic integration is replaced by the communities you describe. It worked. And now, Canadians are complaining that there is no Canadian nationalism and that there is a lessened identity of being a Canadian.

The trick is to not allow too many immigrants. Take the few, make them integrate fully. Don’t let MILLIONS - or even hundreds of thousands - into the country. That way you preserve the integrity of your culture & the safety of your citizens, & yet still provide a refuge for the truly needy, or a place of empowerment for those who truly want to become free.
