NFL players responded to President Trump's criticisms of players protesting police brutality by taking a knee during the national anthem by kneeling en masse Sunday morning.
The opening of the NFL Sunday slate of games took place Sunday morning in London, and many players from both the Baltimore Ravens and the Jacksonville Jaguars took a knee during the playing of "The Star-Spangled Banner."

I think sports will survive. Its the NFL that is in trouble.
To save football, the NFL must be destroyed.
Whether the NFL suffers permanent damage (or any) from this remains to be seen, but I think your assertion that Trump’s is deliberately “causing controversy” to help the NFL make money is way, way off base.
Do you watch the NFL because people salute the flag? Think about what Trump is doing, he is igniting a controversy, one which will help the NFL, not hurt it.
IF the NFL thought this would help ESPN would have screaming headlines and breaking news stories about. Instead, they are minimizing it because they are terrified people will stop going to games and watching on TV.
The players are exposing themselves for everyone to see.
Its a matter of priorities. Some people proclaim God and Country. Some Semper fidelis.
These ingrates get paid millions of dollars while insulting the country that makes it possible.
The TV audience was down 8% overall last year and is down around 15% so far this year - and that 15% is compared to last year with it's 8% loss of TV audience compared to 2015.
How much of the TV audience do you think the NFL can lose before it begins to damage them financially?
And Trump never said a word about it last year or this year until Friday night. Now the controversy is at a whole new level.
Maybe these spoiled millionaire players/owners will see some tax audits in their future. Most of these fools will either OD, go to jail for drugs or murder or beating their wives or girlfriends soon anyway. Funny how these morons tout their free speech antics as US colleges countrywide stifle free speech. Watch for the college teams to follow suit soon.

Besides not giving money each month to the ESPN/NFL/Disney, we are saving over a $100 per month after cutting our cable. I added another $20$ by cutting the Sling Orange.
Cutting the cable removes money each month from the left wingers, who hate America and us, the Trump voters supporters.

The NFL is protected some by contracts. ESPN and other broadcasters are on the losing end of the contracts and will feel the effects first.
Players are corrupted in college and from then on morality goes down hill

Not overnight. Remember, the liberals tried to build them up by purchasing tickets and their CD’s. However, that only lasted for about a month until they outlived their usefulness. The libs will try and do the same thing with the NFL.
