“AARP creeps me out for a whole bunch of reasons.”
Me, too. Our main problem with them is that they are one of the top donors to the Democrat party. So... money people gave to them for dues, etc., eventually ended up in the coffers of Hillary’s campaign.
It took about five years for me to get them to stop sending mail to me.
French Press is the way to go. (IMHO)
AARP creeps me out because it no longer devotes itself to the interests or issues of the elderly. It has become just another media/ngo hack that joins the liberal media/ngo mob on any new leftist cause, agenda or fad. Case in point from the AARP website: Sustainable Energy and Climate Change - AARP Policy Book
How is going all in with the Lysenkoism of Climate Change in the interest of elderly Americans, when the surest results of implementing this leftist agenda will be higher energy and tax bills for its constituency on fixed incomes? It doesn't even show the mature reflection of the old and experience on the
Since AARP screwed its subscribers with going all in with Obama and his healthcare program, I have not paid any attention to ANYTHING that they forward.
Does drinking coffee make you healthier or does being unhealthy (ex. high blood pressure) make you less likely to drink coffee. [The study does not restrict itself to non-caffeinated coffee].
More media BS!
My doctor says it is bad for the bones.
Dear drpix,
re: “AARP went all in for ObamaCare even though it was a 1st step toward merging earned Medicare with welfare’s Medicaid. And even though this would be a disaster for the retired people who AARPs name claims to represent - and who retired from working means they’ve paid Medicare and have an interest in keeping it’s distinction from the welfare health care of Medicaid.”
You laid out the premise, but where were you going with it?
You stopped short ...
you and me both....im on a continual ‘one step from being a world-beater’ if i could just sleep nightly....worst feeling ever to be up at all hours of the night...
The point is that the American Association of Retired of RETIRED Persons no longer represent the interests of retired persons. [See my post #24 for more jabs at AARP]
I won’t have leftist, anti-gun, pro Obama/Hillary organization in my house.
AARP is NO friend of older Americans.
Ps. I drink plenty of coffee.
Dear drpix,
re: “The point is that the American Association of Retired of RETIRED Persons no longer represent the interests of retired persons. [See my post #24 for more jabs at AARP]”
If you had put this at the end of your post that i, originally, replied to, you and I would not have to read this ‘addenda’.
Thank you, for clearing it up. Reading inferences is not one of my ‘gifts’.
GARBAGE.
I restricted my reply to a point on ObamaCare as a courtesy to spare posters cluttering up a thread repeating things (even though it would take only a couple of copy and paste clicks.)
And how could I assume that your were interested in my other points about AARP?
You can drink tea, hot or cold. It has to be real tea, not an herbal infusion that is also called “tea.”
I drink everything at about room temperature or body temperature. I cannot tolerate hot or cold extremes.
I started receiving AARP magazine like, the day after I turned 50. It seemed then like every other issue had Susan Sarandon on the cover. Now...a fiftysomething woman CAN be sexy (my wife is 65 and is she ever!) but SS’s radical politics told me all I wanted to know about AARP’s liberal agenda.
And Sarandon’s aging lefty ingenue bit is wearing thin these days. A lot.
Until now, I used to lie awake nights worrying about the effects of Alzheimer's disease in mice. You have greatly eased my mind.
;)
So, as I see it, the following are good for you:
1) Coffee
2) Red wine (but not in extremes)
3) Aspirin (daily tablet)
4) Nicotine, if administered properly (i.e., not smoking)
I wonder what’s next.
