I don’t know how anyone can eat any of the crap from that place.

I believe they had the only food franchise (other than pretzels and candy) at the Huntsville AL airport. Two things to remember when you travel out of Huntsville, avoid Atlanta (connecting flights for me are available out of Charlotte and Cincinnati) and don't plan to catch a meal at the Huntsville Airport. I hate Subway.

Oh, yeah, and Roll Tide!

Subway is OK and a lot of times I prefer it to a burger, but if I’m near a Jersey Mike’s, that’s where I go.

Their food is marginal at best, but compared to what you pay at McDonald's or other similar fast food places for a meal, their prices are low...

I think they passed the point of sales growth covers low margins and need to adjust their margins to be more in line with little growth model.

I think it’s a really good product, but it’s the kind of thing I go after just once or twice a year.

Firehouse subs is hurting subway bigtime. Bad publicity didnt help I’m sure.

Not sure where you are, all three Firehouse subs I've seen in the last year have closed down.

Tried them once. Never went back. Absolutely horrible. Obviously I wasn't alone. FWIW I'm not a big Subway fan either. If I have to choose between fast food places, I'll do Subway over McDonalds, etc.. however I do my best to avoid fast food in the first place.

Jimmy Johns is slapping Subway up side the head. A far better product. Sometimes the music is a bit loud though.

Jersey Mikes and Firehouse Subs preferable. But I do like local Subway tuna sandwiches. They pile it on!

Not to hijack the thread, but I tried Firehouse and wasn’t thrilled. Jersey Mike’s, on the other hand, had a very good cheesesteak. And now that I’m on low-carb, I walk in and they’ll say “#9 Sub in a tub, right?” (Lettuce, steak, cheese, onions and peppers in a bowl).

A Subway near my home recently closed. I was shocked when I noticed the closure because it was open for years.

Jimmy John’s “Vito” in a lettuce wrap is another low-carb choice.

But I do like their rolls.

Oddly enough Subway sponsors South Korean television dramas. Their product placement is a source of much scorn from drama viewers though.

Subway is dead to me. Ever since it embraced big butt Michelle Obama’s attempt to dictate children's nutrition I stopped personal and business purchasing from them.

Subway's “drinking the Kool-Aid went beyond buying into Michelle Obama’s intrusion into our meal tables. It picked up on a variety of liberal social fantasies. Subway was fairly open about this on its website. But it received significant backlash. Mind you, Subway still embraces a lot of this nonsense. It just is less visible. You can still get an idea of Subway's PC leaning at its webpage http://www.subway.com/en-us/aboutus/socialresponsibility

As usual, there ain't no such thing as a free lunch. And Subway's “social responsibility” programs cost money for no return. If the corporation is in a financial crunch, it would be wise to concentrate on being a business and not a corporate social justice warrior.

Two subways near me recently closed. There were far too many of them to begin with - that and their sandwiches aren’t that great.

Rather go to Mike’s.

Jimmy Johns is so much better and that is where I go for subs. I think JJ put the hurt on them. I use to go to subway years ago, but then they started skimping on the meat, it was mostly bread.

Nascar is losing viewers and recently distanced themselves from Trump with the Marcus Lemonis nonsence.

Could just be a move to avoid further controversy.

Jimmy Johns offers subs on lettuce wraps and they are delicious for those not wanting bread and watching their diet. They call it an unwich.

The Subway chain is getting some real competition with chains like Firehouse Subs; JimmyJohns and Jersey Mike's. Not to mention Chik-Fil-A, which is going through explosive growth and has probably the best chicken sandwich in the space.

Subway is still reeling with that major PR disaster over that "Jared" spokesman who pled guilty to child pornography and having sex with children a couple years back.

Subway used to be seen as a "healthy" fast food option but other chains are now doing it better. They also have not really evolved the overall look of their stores. Their stores look much like they did 10-15 years ago. Not as trendy. Younger generations find the chain decidedly "uncool" and prefer chains like Chipotles, Panda Express and Moe's Southwest Grill.

With 45,000 stores, Subway is not going away anytime soon. But they are definitely falling upon hard times.

The Michelle Obama/Subways "collusion" to fight childhood obesity may've had an effect too. I know I was disappointed to hear about their partnership.
