An adventurous kitty exacerbated the Summer of Hell on Monday morning, snarling service for thousands of commuters
The plucky feline was spotted ambling along the tracks at the Rockaway Avenue station in Brooklyn on the A and C lines at around 7:20 a.m. It took MTA workers about half an hour to wrangle the elusive kitty. And in the meantime, officials shut down local service on the C line, forcing riders onto the A line. Someone finally caught the cat, and service resumed at about 7:53 a.m.

Viking Kitty on the loose?
;^D
Video at link.
Very cute little patched tabby girl. I hope she gets reunited with her owner or finds a great furrever home. Precious little girl!
So what happened to the kitty? Did they just take her out to the street and let her go?
She is clearly someone’s pet. She is not feral.
I witnessed a crash on a busy highway in CA and nobody stopped. At another time, on the same stretch of road, there was a loose dog and at least 20 vehicles were pulled over, some in travel lanes and there were a jillion idiots running about trying to catch the dog. Some things are not worth a human life nor delaying thousands of people from their business.
I meant, this thread is useless without a picture :)
They don’t seem to tell. But in the beginning, the nice guy who caught her seems to be handling her rather gingerly; at first I thought she was feral...then she seemed to calm down when he started petting her.
He was a very brave guy. I’d never pick up a feral kitten without serious gloves.
I have a feral cat I’ve been feeding for a year or two. I would never ever dare to pick her up. Only pet her tail and hind quarters. She stopped hissing six months ago and I’ve heard her purr a couple of times.
p.s. Friends of Feral Felines fixed her and gave her a long term rabies shot.
Oven mitts are your friends :-)
From the article
“...The employees, who didnt know if the cat was a stray or someones pet, eventually brought it up to the street and let it go free. ...”
kitty ping!
OK, that’s seriously cute.
Still one of my favorite movies.

Must be a therapy cat...
Brought it up to the street and freed it?? NYC doesn’t have Animal Control? Or why the heck didn’t someone take it to a shelter?
