I think you should read my post 15.
And China and Russia have been staging joint war games since 2005 in obvious preparation for war with us and our allies. This could set things off.
The Korean War is still going on. There is currently a cease fire since 1953.
You underestimate him. He literally thinks he is God and so do the North Korean people.
The only way this ends without a nuclear war is if Kim is assassinated by his own military.
I have no idea. I doubt we would use any.
The author seems to have little understanding of recent history.
Before the First Gulf War Iraq had the fifth largest army in the world.
We neutralized Iraq in something like three days with little collateral damage.
The key; first take out the enemys command and control systems, then establish air dominance.
After that it is a relatively simple task of eliminating individual units or articles of war from the air (A10s and Apaches).
What I dislike about the article the most is that he seems to suggest that Trump is the crazy war mongering leader rather than Kim.
I would think the big key would be to monitor where Kim and his generals are at all times. Once you take them out the rest of the NK army would fall like Dominoes.
Very few of them have any idea of what the US is capable of. Most of NK are in a black out zone, the have very little food and no electricity. Roads are used as sidewalks because few people have cars. If they saw what the US can do, they would probably soil their pants and run.
Two words: Republican Guard.
I suspect that the First Gulf War would be a good model.
Most of Kims army are conscripts with minimal training and have no combat experience.
The individual soldier will have just a few rounds of ammo and once the war starts the logistics system will collapse and the soldiers in the field will be getting little in the way of food rations.
So, once the steel rain starts to fall Kims army will be looking for someone to surrender to.
I don’t know about the NK army but some info I got from a guy who was in the Egyptian army under Nasser that is interesting. He said that they spent most of their time playing soccer and helping the harvest. They almost never were issued weapons or ammo and got very little training. While this ha nothing to do with NK it is indicative of how tinpot dictators operate. Such people fear internal rebellion more than external foes. They eliminate competent popular generals for they constantly fear assassination. In addition the NKs are smaller physically than they used to be due to the poor diets they’ve had for decades now. Their army may very well be a paper tiger.
If they have enough soldiers to feed the artillery that will be a problem. But if the general staff is like that of any other tinpot totalitarian regime it is likely to not be very competent. Un would never allow truly competent underlings to exist.
Does the air raid shelter have WiFi? Do they serve gluten-free food? Do they have transgender bathrooms?
Yep. NORK air power would cease to be in short fashion.
I do recall reading that Lil Kim had one troublesome general executed with a cannon.
If they have enough soldiers to feed the artillery that will be a problem.
Yes artillery is a problem and cam make a mess but it is only a strategic problem if it is operated by a well-trained crew. It is harder to hit something with a cannon shell than you might think. Ballistics is a highly technically challenging discipline.
And as I said before I highly doubt that NK has much in the way of ammo stores.
So they eat grass and tree bark in the communist paradise do they?
I guess I will stay in my capitalist hell hole.
yahoos are sneaking about the backwoods with no headlights?
I would bet we could annihilate North Korea in less than 24 hours.
and what would happen to South Korea in 24 hours?
A first nuclear strike would be a bad idea.
A 500 lb. JDAM, on the other hand, landing on a reviewing stand occupied by Kim and his medal-festooned lickspittles, that’s something else.
“This does not make sense - it sounds like he thinks trump might attack South Korea”
No, the problem is that this writer thinks that we will spend a lot of time building up our troops like we did in the Iraq wars. And that the Norks will launch an attack on Seoul in response to our buildup.
Apparently he thinks that all wars are fought the same way. Well he’s in for a surprise. So is Fat Boy Kim.
He already has far more of those than he is man enough to handle...
