Originally Josh Grobin played Pierre. He left and was replaced ab a black and ticket sales started to suffer without Grobin's star power. Mandy Patinkin, a Tony award winner, was suppose to replace the black actor but the SJWs went crazy and Many withdrew. Thanks to the SJWs the show is closing. Lesson: once you go black you can't go back.

How long now, before we hear Race Note-ables screeching RACISM, Bigotry, Discrimination. The SPLC, NAACP, and ACLU screeching that they are doing to file Law SUITS.

N, P, & the Comet is based around a portion of Tolstoy's "War and Peace" one of the greatest works of European and Western literature. War and Peace is framed around true monumental historical events in Western history.

Realistically a black actor can only detract from such a production because he is so obviously false and out of time and place. His presence distracts and becomes jarring.

Imagine a musical about Africa with Justin Bieber starring as a an African tribesman. He would be laughed off the stage before the first act finished. It is not about racism. It is about the absurd.

Now in something like Cats, you could cast whomever you want without worry. Blacks, Chinese, Hispanics could all be cast in Cats without a problem. But War and Peace depicts history. History can't be rewritten.

Justin Bieber as an African tribesman would be almost as jarring as John Wayne portraying Ghengis Khan.

Producer Howard Hughes bought all copies of ‘The Conqueror’ and kept them out of circulation for years.

Oh my, that was a hoot! Monumental miscasting. Everyone was an absurd casting decision. Pretty freckly ginger Susan Hayward as an Asian! LOL.

During production fallout from a nearby nuclear test blanketed the set. Eventually almost everyone appearing in that film was to die of cancer.

But....

“However, we had the wrong impression of how Oak felt about the casting announcement and how it would be received by members of the theater community, which we appreciate is deeply invested in the success of actors of color – as are we – and to whom we are grateful for bringing this to our attention. We regret our mistake deeply, and wish to express our apologies to everyone who felt hurt and betrayed by these actions.”

This is a glowing NYT review, but read the comments. Seems almost everyone who sees the show HATES it! And that was in Nov 2016, long before it lost its star...

Thanks for the link. Well, all I can say is good riddance to bad rubbish. Really the only people who pay to see this sort of dross are naive tourists and rich insular fruits from New York’s Central Park West.
