Fighting CO2 question

Posted on 08/08/2017 5:45:10 PM PDT by MNDude

Fighting CO2 seems to be all the rage amongst intellectuals in liberals. Literally billions of dollars have been spent on ugly wind turbines and solar panels throughout USA.

I looked up the cost for a commercial wind turbine and it costs about four million dollars!

It seems to me that the cheapest and scenic way to fight CO2 would be spend the the money on planting trees everywhere. Does anyone know roughly how many trees could be planted for $4000000? And how much CO2 would those trees prevent compared to a single wind turbine?

Is anyone here good with statistics and calculating this type of thing?

There’s no need to “fight co2”

Co2 is the Gas of Life.

Because of our Co2 emissions trees will grow bigger and stronger, global crop yields will continue to hit record highs every year using less irrigation, and the deserts will continue “greening”.

NO PROBLEM!

Just get those 'Rats who are about reduced CO2 to stop breathing.

Problem solved.

Less CO2

No one left who cares.

15 years ago, the “Biscuit Fire” (Oregon) burned over 500,000 acres of trees near where I live. How any “credits” of CO2 did God expend? Maybe, I should talk to AlGore...he could turn out a light or 2

Algae oil also uses CO2. You grow the algae and that creates fuel for our transportation while creating oxygen for our happy lives. It would be Utopia on earth (and maybe Mars). However, the Envioroweenies live on a different Mars where CO2 is bad bad bad.

Supposedly; poplar trees are rapidly growing and as such are doing lots of breathing. With the leftist, it is not just CO2, it is also the oil industry...any thing to destroy America. Planting millions of trees means lots of water. The Eastern and Central Time Zones have got lots of trees...and lots of water. Wyoming...sad to say not so much...and therefore with little water; very few trees. The Plants in the lakes and oceans probably do more CO2/oxygen exchanging than do the trees on the surface.

“Global Warming - Climate Change” world biggest hoax and scam.
Just like Obama causing Global Flooding by pissing in the ocean.
That much can humans contribute.
Elaborate scam to screw off taxpayers off their money!

Earth climate and changes are dependent on Sun’s and Sunspots activity supplying 99.99% of energy. Humans can do schit about it.
Volcano eruptions can produce much more distractions to climate than all humans and SUVs farting together.
CO2 is not poison, it is “food” for plants, which in turn produce Oxygen, that we need to breathe.
STOP the scam, jail all the scammers!!!
God bless and protect Mr. Trump!
MAGA!!!!

Like JPJones said - No NEED to fight CO2.

CO2 is plant food, Period.

Fight idiocy, not CO2

If we let the FedGov plant the tree’s you’d get about 4 tree’s for your $4Mil.

I would say it's hard to convince them to stop breathing, but then again, they do cut off their penises.

With the leftist, it is not just CO2, it is also the oil industry

That's because they have been brainwashed to be against CARBON. All forms of CARBON. That's why Al Gore wanted a CARBON TAX.

An installed 10kW PV system generating power for about 5.25 years has generated 93.3 megawatts and this equals 64.5 tons of CO2 and about 1550 trees - per the Enphase Enlighten web monitoring site.

It’s carbon capture. And the beauty is that when the trees are mature you can harvest the wood and plant a new one while at the same time retaining the carbon from the old one in the form of wood or paper. Or you can simply bury the old one.

So on to finish my post... A large utility scale wind turbine is 1 megawatt. Using the same formula for PV of avg. 5-6 hours a day of generation 1 large turbine will save 154.8 million trees in 5 years.

Who makes the wind turbines?
What politicians have those companies donated to?

Here ya go! Mature trees absorb about 48 pounds of CO2 per year.

Here are some other facts: Greenland was once green with forests and grass - then along came the Little Ice Age and Greenland was covered in ice. No more Vikings. It still hasn’t recovered from this cycle.

Second fact: The volcano that erupted in the Philipines: From Wikepedia: “The volcano’s (Mount Pinatubo) Ultra Plinian eruption on June 15, 1991 produced the second-largest terrestrial eruption of the 20th century...Global temperatures dropped by about 0.5 °C (0.9 °F) in the years 1991–93,[7] and ozone depletion temporarily increased substantially.”

So in effect, this one volcano eruption eliminated all the previous global temperature rise and actually dropped the temperature of the Globe. There are about a thousand active volcanoes around the world.

When someone thinks that man can change the climate, they think they are more powerful than Nature (God). Nature has always corrected any imbalance - CO2 absorbed by the oceans, trees, etc.

Finally, remember the statement: “97% of scientist believe in man-made global warming”. Well that statement (H/T National review) is from a survey done by Australian scientist John Cook
“...In an analysis of 12,000 abstracts, he found “a 97% consensus among papers taking a position on the cause of global warming in the peer-reviewed literature that humans are responsible.” “Among papers taking a position” is a significant qualifier: Only 34 percent of the papers Cook examined expressed any opinion about anthropogenic climate change at all. Since 33 percent appeared to endorse anthropogenic climate change, he divided 33 by 34 and — voilà — 97 percent! When David Legates, a University of Delaware professor who formerly headed the university’s Center for Climatic Research, recreated Cook’s study, he found that “only 41 papers — 0.3 percent of all 11,944 abstracts or 1.0 percent of the 4,014 expressing an opinion, and not 97.1 percent,”

As others here have pointed out carbon dioxide is good for life. It is a greenhouse gas...literally . It's pumped into greenhouses to improve plant growth!

YOUR units are all screwed up

10 KW PV. Power=energy/time

You say 10 kw for 5.25 years is 93.3 MW. Maybe 93.3 MW-HRS which is a common unit for total energy produced. I don't have a calc in front of me or I would do it for you.
