Judge Nap: Trump Jr.-Russia Meeting 'Suspicious,' Should Be Under Criminal Probe (Good Grief)
Fox News ^ | July 17, 2017 | Judge Andrew Napolitano

Posted on 07/18/2017 9:53:16 AM PDT by BurgessKoch

Judge Andrew Napolitano said today that political campaigns cannot accept "something of value" from a foreign person or government.

The Fox News senior judicial analyst said on "America's Newsroom" that the Trump campaign's lawyer - if consulted - would have likely advised Donald Trump Jr. and others not to attend a meeting last spring with a Russian lawyer.

Napolitano said if damaging information about Hillary Clinton was provided at the meeting, it would have been a "felony, the completion of a crime."

He said the law "may not be the best statute in the world," since it can also be argued that Americans have a First Amendment right to gather information.

The judge, however, said the meeting was "suspicious" and should be investigated, especially since it also involved a man linked to Russian intelligence.

"Why didn't Jared Kushner tell the FBI about it when he filled out his national security application?" asked Napolitano.

The judge said the question is whether Kushner tried to hide a "foolish" decision to attend the meeting or whether he was hiding actual collusion with Russia to hurt the Clinton campaign.

there is a reason Nap is not a judge. He also has to dance for his pennies or he gets no paid appearances.

(he gets paid per appearance)

Nap has to tow the left wing approved thoughts. (remember he is pro homo based marriage)

And Eugene Volokh. And many others. Doesn’t make the news though. To be prominent in the news, it is necessary to opine that accepting the meeting was criminal.

Yes he is...

Read his background and was surprised...when a dude ‘blows’ the wrong way, I stop listening to them, and I stopped listening when Fox gave the Judge some days off, awhile back...

Use to think he was a smart guy, now I just, L O L...

Fox is leaning more liberal than ever...I too stick to Lou Dobbs in the evening and Hannity and the Judge Jeanine on Sat...that is about it...

My understanding is that the legal requirements for these security clearance forms are much stricter for contacts with representatives of foreign governments than for contacts with ordinary foreigners.

I can understand how these forms would have to be amended over time, especially in cases where you may arrange a meeting with someone without knowing that they're bringing someone who you later learn is a "government representative" of some kind.

“Judge Andrew Napolitano said today that political campaigns cannot accept “something of value” from a foreign person or government.”

Hey Judge, what did Donald Trump Jr receive that was of value? From all I read the meeting turned at to be about the Magnitsky Act. Nothing of value was received.

I am TIRED of the chicken-butts. Hillary, the Dems, ALL of Obama’s people are more than guilty. They are blatant about it and NO ONE is canning them or even bringing up their crimes.

The MSM, the nevertrumpsies, and a whole boat load of Liberals are ignoring the law.

Agree, he’s a puke. I crossed him off the list when many years ago he started spouting off on a juvenile case in Texas. He had no clue about TX law but that didn’t stop him. It was total hogwash. FOX should have fired him years ago.

“Judge Andrew Napolitano’s voice matters. I don’t agree with him on this issue but I value him as one of our cultural leaders.”

No, I would have agreed with you right up until he returned from his little suspension from Fox.

Something really changed him - as a libertarian he would never have taken a position like this. He has turned 180° over a very short time. Fox must have made his return contingent on taking anti-Trump positions.

Either that, or the other fellas like Shep Smith said no more bubble baths together unless he ponies up and puts Trump in a bad light.

Judge Nap is gay. Enough said.

Wow. Never knew that but it explains a lot. I've never liked him and thought, outside his clueless lies on law, there was something off about him.

I think the judge applied to work for the Trump White House and was rejected. Soooo he has a butt-hurt and trying to exact a price using the power of the air-waves. Personally, I have never thought he was on the ‘right’ side of anything... but sure loves the sound of his own voice.

Remember months ago when some of us were bringing up Nap’s name as a possible SCOTUS appointee? Thank you, DJT, for not listening to us on that issue!

“So who is being investigated over the Trump Dossier?”

And who is investigating how Clinton got the “pussy tape” opposition research? It didn’t fall out of a tree into PIAPS’ lap. Someone at NBC had to contact someone in the Clinton campaign and offer the information to them. Nobody said, “No, thank you; we couldn’t possibly accept any information about Mr. Trump. We’re much too ethical to take this meeting.” Plus, the tape was made secretly, of a private citizen. Still, Clinton was thrilled to have it.

How did Napilitano ever get on TV? He is just some former lower court hack judge from Jersey. He is wrong much of the time and his legal analytical skills leave a lot to be desired.
Cannot stand listening to this self appointed authority even on the rare occasions when he happens to be right.
