Posted on 06/10/2017 7:03:58 PM PDT by MNDude

A few weeks ago we had a thread with a subject of who the greatest male vocalist ever were. There were many great comments on that thread. So for tonight, I am asking who do you think are the three greatest female vocalists ever?

Love this thread.

I go with Linda Ronstadt because of her expertise in so many genres.

I add Janis Joplin because no one ever packed more emotion into a song.

And the Veterans Committee is bringing in Judy Garland.

The Dixie Chicks version is actually one of my favorites. No music, just their voices.

Of course you have to put politics aside and focus on the music.

Agreed!
She could do with her voice what seems impossible.

I didn’t consider Whitney Houston for a couple reasons.

First, other than “I Will Always Love You”, I really don’t like any of her other songs. A couple of her hits, such as “How Will I Know”, are screechy and annoying.

Second, when I think of her, like Madonna, her personal life overtakes her musical talent. The drugs, Bobby Brown, drowning, etc. With Madonna it’s the raunchy videos and her book. Ick.

Dreamboat Annie was one of my favorite albums from the 70’s. Amazing talent from both sisters. I can’t think of another female rock guitar player from that time doing what Nancy Wilson was doing.

Another Minnie fan, i see.

Highest notes ever recorded. She could actually enunciate words in the "whistle range". Found this on youtube. Amazing.
