23-year old Kyle Zoellner, the man accused of stabbing Humboldt State University student David Lawson to death at an off campus party Easter weekend, was released from Eureka’s jail last Friday May 5th.

Humboldt County judge Dale Reinholsten ruled that due to a lack of physical evidence, there was no need to require a trial. All charges against Zoellner were dropped.

Zoellner was released because nobody could testify they actually saw him with a knife, so they can't prove he was the one who stabbed the guy.

His "female friend" goes to a party with a lot of black males. She becomes unhappy there, and calls Kyle to come get her. Her cell phone goes missing, and she becomes accusatory towards some men at the party and starts a fight, which Kyle gets dragged into:

That was my first thought also, but the initial poster alluded to “getting laid” so I just responded to that.
