I was catching the end of the NFL Draft and Denver with the last pick crowned Chad Kelly, QB Ole Miss, as Mr. Irrelevant. Has to be the most famous Mr. Irrelevant evah. From piloting the explosive Ole Miss offense, being the nephew of NFL Hall of Famer Jim Kelly, and some early hype as a legit draft prospect to Mr. Irrelevant.
Fox’s Shep Smith is an Old Miss alumni.
Well he does get a $2.4 million contract, according to the CBA, so while I’m sure he wishes he had gone higher he is making out better than most of the world right now. Let’s see if he can make something of an NFL career and not blow all of the money.

Agreed. If he ever gets his head on straight, he’ll be a good one. I don’t believe I saw a better QB than his performance against Alabama. I am glad he’s gone.
That is the “total value” of the contract, which is not really worth the paper it is printed on.
His guarantee is 64k. for the life of the contract if he sees it. He needs to make the team to get paid his first year salary of 480k.
Being a Quarterback, it helps him see that money. Almost everybody else gets nothing as a 7th round pick.
Tom Brady was close to being Mr. Irrelevant (6th round draft pick). Never know what circumstances might occur to allow someone the opportunity to become relevant.

Ofc I knew the NFL had loads of non-guaranteed contract terms and players being cut, etc., but for some reason I thought that all of the drafees got an initial definite contract. Shows what I know, ha ha.... casual fan here, very casual.

The kid is a knucklehead. Had numerous run-ins with the law and is entitled and hot headed. On the other hand, “swag kelly” as he calls himself, does have some football skills.
Could have gone a lot higher if he’d stayed out of trouble. Third degree assault, second degree harrassment, resisting arrest (threw a punch at a police officer). Jim Kelly’s nephew - with that pedigree and with his talent he could have been drafted in the first round. If he cleans up his act the Broncos could have a steal. If he keeps going the way he is, the Broncos didn’t lose much. John Elway knows what he’s doing as a GM.
If he does not fly straight in Denver then I predict he will get pretty messed up by players and fans. He should think long and hard before signing.
