iPhone 8 Obliterates Galaxy S8 in First Alleged Benchmarks

Thanks to its Snapdragon 835 processor, the Galaxy S8 is the most powerful phone you can buy. But if a new leak proves accurate, that won't be the case for long.

Posted to Slashleaks and spotted by BGR, the alleged screenshot shows an iPhone running an quad-core A11 processor at 2.74-GHz. This is supposed to be the chip that will power Apple's next flagship, according to various iPhone 8 rumors and reports.

The screenshot shows the iPhone 8 registering a single-core score of 4,537 and a multi-core score of 8,975 on the Geekbench 4 benchmark, which measures overall performance. Both of those marks are way higher than what Samsung's phone turned in our Galaxy S8 review.

The S8 notched 1,846 on the single-core test and 6,295 on the multi-core portion. If this benchmark is to be believed, the iPhone 8 will be almost 2.5 times faster when performing single tasks and 43 percent faster when it comes to multitasking performance.

To put the iPhone 8's supposed performance edge in perspective, its result would also outgun the Dell XPS 13 laptop. The Core i5 model scored 7,159, and the Core i7 version notched 7,915.

Although the Galaxy S8 is in the lead when it comes to benchmark performance, the older iPhone 7 has defeated the S8 in a couple of real-world application open time benchmarks. For instance, YouTuber PhoneBuff found that the iPhone 7 took 1 minute and 16 seconds to load 16 apps, versus 1:24 for the Galaxy S8.

I don’t understand all the glass breakage. I have used Apple phones about eight years since my company left the Blackberry. I have a slim hard case and belt clip. I have no screen cover. Until recent retirement, I was in construction and have dropped them all over construction sites, trailers and in travel. I have broken cases, but never a screen or the phone itself.

I'd like to see a tricked out desktop motherboard running ARM

THIS is why I thought you should get a Raspberry Pi.

No problems with the military grade Samsung Rugby. Yep, I’m still with the flipper.

Live Dead as whole never seems to get old. Same with Skull and Roses.

Pigpen gave ‘em a nice edge.

My kids break them every time eventually

I broke my first 6 plus

Fell off my jacuzzi rim about 30 inches onto marble floor

Glass spiderwebbed just like that and it was in a case

My next 6+ is in a rubber case and so far so good for two years now

My iPad never shattered either and is not in a case and I’ve dropped it and bent the edge

I’m big on iPads a cheerleader

Verizon gives me iPads and other tablets every year since I have 20 or so lines and spend so much money there

The Verizon tablet is ok but apple much better

The apple optics are just so clear

I don’t use Samsung except in TVs

I do love Motorola droids though

Workhorses

My wife has the Force with hasselblad camera and the JBL speaker attachments

Great tool

I’ve got my business life on my cloud and data and so much music

It’s hard to go back to Motorola now

I think Droid is better for business but Apple for fun and graphics

Kids have to have apple

Libs too

I’m ambivalent but fairly content
