“Not according to Road and Track.”

Here is R&T explaining how the published numbers are possible.

Any car can hit 0-60 in under 3 seconds if you throw it off a cliff

This of what Luke and Bo Duke could have done with that car.

Sheriff Rosco Coltrane would have no chance...

Excerpts from your link that you should take note of:

---------------------------------------------------

Things you should note: First off, there's no indication that these numbers are real—

Secondly, some of these numbers look a little ... funny.

Additionally some of the graphs just look odd.

And finally, as Dodge has announced previously, we know the SRT Demon will have multiple performance modes. It's not clear from these images whether the purported performance numbers indicate the car's output in its max-performance mode, or whether they represent a lesser driving setting.

So take it all with a grain of salt.

Lol! “Things you should note: First off, there’s no indication that these numbers are real—they could just be decoys, place-holders to demonstrate what the Demon’s Performance Pages are capable of showing, but not meant to convey any information about those performance measures themselves.”

Seems pretty straightforward. Take your own advice.

YOU: Seems pretty straightforward.

Then why did you say that they were real?

“On the other hand, Dodge only achieved its insane acceleration figure by building a car with one seat and drag radials, and that only achieves maximum power with 100-octane racing fuel and a special engine computer.”

I was mistaken. Dad’s hemi was the D-501.

“The engine was actually a high-performance Chrysler 354-cu.in. engine that had been used in the 1956 Chrysler 300B; the 10.0:1 compression, dual four-barrel engine made 355hp at 5,200 RPM and 405-lbs.ft. of torque at 3,200 to 3,600 RPM.”

Not bad for 1957.

Hire American. Buy American. I prefer the Mustang but the new Dodge Charger is perfect for people who take racing seriously and hopefully had a few driving classes.

On the other hand, Dodge only achieved its insane acceleration figure by building a car with one seat and drag radials, and that only achieves maximum power with 100-octane racing fuel and a special engine computer.

It is a bit of a joke, Dodge makes a one trick pony for bragging rights, ignoring the fact that a Mazda Miata could run away from it at the first set of turns.

Modern liter class sportbikes would embarass it in roll-ons once you take away the impressive launch capabilities. 5 lb/hp is impressive, but not against 3 lb/hp of modern 1000cc bikes. Who does burnouts on the street, and hell, all you have to do is stomp on the pedal and keep it straight. A trick suspension for weight transfer would be a nightmare for handling.

With this low first gear they had to be running slicks and not street tires.
