So I am in my local Podunk town this AM.
Running errands etc. One the post office.
I am at a 4 way stop and look over to my left and see a mail box on the opposite side of the road, my side of the intersection. Good deal.
There is no on coming traffic or from any other direction or coming up from behind. I am alone in the intersection.
Throw it in park jump out (door open),run to the box deposit mail,run back put er in D and go through a still empty 4 way stop.
Cop pulls up from behind pulls me over and gives me a 92.00 tkt for, “Improper parking”. Said I should have pulled into a parking space to use the mail box.
Walked away and said ,"Have a Better day".Not a good day, a better day. He knew he as being an a-hole.
I am think about going to court. Wasn’t parked was standing/stopped. I think the mail box is an entrapment set up. Maybe put there by Russians?
I think the cop should have beat your ass, locked you up and had your car impounded.

If you got out of the car it’s parked. If you were in a through lane that’s improper.

So for my defense in court I would tell the judge I put it in Neutral with the brake on and jumped out.
In that case I should have been ticketed for improper use.Cop erred

I refused to pay for months out of spite. About 6 months later, I received a summons to show up at traffic court in Roseville, CA or pay the $475.00 fine. I showed up, the judge let me talk for <15 seconds, then brought the hammer down. that was that.
Pay the fine, move on. I have (not).
Fight it! Just tell the judge you didn’t want to move the car around unnecessarily due to the extra climate change damage you might do!
There’s a lot to be said for the Col. Slade method of fixing things.

Judge will give a continuance the first time if cop doesn’t show. I’ve heard several people tell me that in both KY and in OH anyway.
But if you have the time, you ought to fight it. If cop does show up, you’ll have to pay court costs as well if judge agrees with cop.
But you should fight on principle alone. Good luck.
It’s a parking ticket... not a moving violation.
Just pay it and learn from it.
If you left your vehicle while it was stationary the car is technically parked. You are not allowed to leave a stationary vehicle in the middle of a roadway whether other vehicles are present or not. The cop did not err at all.
Sorry, you were unlucky enough to get caught violating the law. When you go to pay the ticket, make sure to find a real parking place. Take responsibility for what you did.
