Every submarine in the U.S. fleet was designed with the height, reach and strength of men in mind, from the way valves are placed to how display screens are angled.
That's going to change.

“What’s long and hard and full of seamen?”
Vanity mirrors at every seat... (ducking)
If I declare myself transgender can I bunk and bathe with the gals?
As long as they are courts martialed for getting pregnant and unable to complete their duties as a result.
That’s really the biggest, but not only problem with women at sea. They can go home anytime they want and leave their fellow sailors with an empty billet.
The other, serious, problem is they suck at firefighting/damage control and loading stores...operating the buffer...anything physical.
They should leave the heads alone. Sometimes you feel like a nut. Sometimes you don’t.
Holey moley.
Has anyone thought through problems?
For example, there are documented cases of girls in the Navy getting pregnant on ships. How will they handle pregnancy in a submarine? Just saying its happened on ships and could happen on a sub.
My ex-Bubblehead son (USS Ohio) is livid about this ridiculous proposal. As am I.
One positive benefit perhaps is that it would stop the Captain Queegs from working their crews into the dust.
I agree 100%. This is long overdue. If women want equal rights, which they deserve, then today, like our sons, like us, need to register for the draft.
Height and reach? Every submariner I’ve ever met was about 5’10” and shorter anyway.
None of this would be possible without liberals inflating women’s sense of self importance beyond the other 50% of the human race.
could happen? it will happen. the bigger question how is the Navy going to handle a pregnant female, who’s fetus has been exposed to Ionizing radiation for weeks maybe months? From experence, a medavac or humavac doesn’t happen over night!
And then starts the PR nightmare for the Navy! I mentioned this scenario at an Admirial’s call shortly before retiring in 92. My solution? all females on subs be on mandatory Birth control, as politically Incorrect as I am :)
Do they name subs after states now?
A few years back I hauled a periscope from Rhode Island to San Diego for the USS Ashville. Drove right up to the boat. I’m sure they knew everything about me or they wouldn’t have let me haul it.
Knew a guy that got out of the Navy. He said that submariners...tubers...would leave a crew of 150 and return as 75 couples.
All branches deal with women getting pregnant to avoid deployment.
Reconfiguring: Not only for women, but for men who think they are women, and women who think they are men. Diversity is our strength.
Uhhhhh....problem is...if a woman goes on patrol and discovers she’s pregnant the sub will have to break cover and surface to get her off. Not good or militarily smart.
Maternity Wards, Daycare, More Kitchens, Central Vacuum,....???
Satellite feed of Dr Oz and Oprah every afternoon @1300. Good Housekeeping and Cosmo in the ships library.
It's all about killing the enemy and breaking all his toys. ANYTHING which distracts from killing the enemy and breaking all his toys doesn't belong in the Army (Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps).
