The Most Infuriating Movie Endings Of All Time
YouTube ^ | March 27, 2017 | Looper

There's nothing quite as frustrating as a bad movie ending. Failure to stick that landing in the final act can totally ruin an otherwise great film, or give us one more reason to hate one that was already a dud. Here's a look at some of the most annoying movie endings in recent memory. And it should go without saying, but spoilers ahead…

The Matrix Revolutions | 0:23
X-Men: The Last Stand | 0:59
Signs | 1:44
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 | 2:43
Now You See Me | 3:27
I Am Legend | 4:15
Man of Steel | 5:14
Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King | 6:06

For me, its still Gladiator. I kept thinking throughout the movie, how are they going to have a confrontation between Maximus and Commodus? How is Maximus going to win? I thought perhaps he would escape. But the ending kept moving toward a confrontation between them in the arena. Up until the last few minutes, I naively kept asking, how are they going to pull this off, given that Commodus did not die in the arena? Then they had Maximus kill Commodus in the arena and suggested that Rome returned to a republic. I just shook my head.

"Independence Day “I gave it a virus”"

Hey, who's to say a super advanced alien civilization wouldn't be using C++ programing code.

Yeah, nothing like plug-and-play hacking an Alien mothership to ruin the suspension of disbelief.

Amazing that alien ships have intel and windows on their computers. Amazing that he knew their e-mail address and got them to click on a file. If no e-mail address it's amazing he know how to inject a virus into their system.

Slap Shot - I thought Michael Ontkean stripping on the ice was a really dumb ending to the movie.

These whipper snappers. "2001: A Space Odyssey" ends with a half hour of nothing but special effects tuned for heroin users. 1999 (?) "Planet of the Apes" where Earth somehow became an Ape planet can only be a result of the director being drunk when he watched the 1968 version. And has been well documented in many places, the end of "Sixth Sense" implies that Bruce Willis walked, talked, went places, ate, and lived his life for months, seeing that he had no effect on the physical world, and did not realize that anything was wrong.

Arrival, the one from last year, has an ending so bad it ruins all the interesting stuff that came before. I had to salve my moving watching conscience with much whiskey afterward.

So that part was good...

Cheers
Jim

For some real fun, go to Youtube and search “how it should have ended”.

My favorite is Avatar. They basically say to the lead character that if he had done his mission and not gotten all hot for the blue chick, everything would have been fine. And then, after they are sent off planet, two of the leaders look at each other and this conversation takes place:
Corporate stooge: “Nuke ‘em from space?”
Corporate stooges boss: “Nuke ‘em from space.”

I had a lot of complaints about the LOTR movies — and I absolutely HATED the Hobbit movies.

But I think the end of The Return of The King was not bad. They skipped “The Scouring of The Shire” which I thought was a shame, but I don’t think ROTK deserves to be on this list of bad endings.

“Yet we were supposed to believe at the end that he would sweep Debra Winger off her feet and they were going to live happily ever after”

After his honest decent friend hanged himself and he cut him down. He achieved his goal of finishing the class and realized it was empty. In psychology they call it a significant emotional event.

If it helps they probably divorced a few years later when she missed her mom, and he was at sea too long.
