We had a local Chinese place that failed to hire an American editor so they paid for a very large sign that said “Welcome to party”. From that point on, that was the name of the restaurant.

They closed it and opened a Japanese place. The signs were fine but the menu said “We serve alcoholics”.

It was a long time ago, but I remember the restaurant as being somewhere not too far south of Santa Monica. It might have been on Pacific Coast Highway.

I searched for an image of that sign, but didn't find it.

Yes, dad only went once (that I know) on a visit to California. He was with some friends and it was many years ago.
