Papeete (AFP) - Barack Obama arrived in French Polynesia where he will spend a month at a luxury resort frequented by Hollywood stars, according to local TV channel Tahiti Nui TV.
The former US president landed on the tourist island Tahiti without his family before going to Marlon Brando's privately owned retreat Tetiaroa atoll, which the Oscar-winning actor bought in the 1960s.
Obama has checked into the eco-friendly Brando resort, whose villas boast their own plunge pools and cost between 2,000 euros ($2,150) and 12,300 euros per night.

In the Pacific. Jets and seaplanes to get there and lots of diesel fuel to keep the pools and ac running.
He’s going to pretend to write his new $60 million book there.
He did that before, he spent two months in Bali where he supposedly wrote Dreams From My Father.
I guess that sounds better than saying “Bill Ayers wrote my book at his living room table.”
But their daughter in high school needs her dad to help with homework and be involved with the school activities, right?
Who goes on vacation for a whole month without his wife?? I mean, if you have a good marriage, a vacation apart would not be something you would plan. And being gone a month???
What’s up here? He said before he left the White House he and Michelle would take a vacation? Why is he going alone???
