They need to have their plumbing checked. No, literally. Perhaps poisoning from lead pipes made them go nuts.
I feel sympathy for the mother of the mentally ill young man who inherited this insanity from his father.
We used to have parents dedicate children to the priesthood and nunnery as acts of virtue, but at least that didn’t mutilate them physically or emotionally.
